To all the BBs Still awake/bored/or browsing... Has anyone ever had a horse that was allergic to alfalfa?
I recently found out My Gelding(7yrs) is allergic to it. It makes him shrivel up like a raisin and makes him lethargic. It takes him months to get over even just one square of It...
Any Stories or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

We had a horse allergic to alfalfa. He got horrible itchy spots on him and just lost his energy.
Fortunately he was not too terribly allergic so we pulled the alfalfa and changed his feed. He regained his energy and still kept getting the itchy spots. Turns out he was allergic to all kinds of pollen too. The vet said that he may have not gotten that bad but the alfalfa allergy then allowed the other to manifest worse. He was on allergy shots for 4 years. Then his owners/friends of ours that bought him from us moved him to Germany and no more pollen issues.
