| Is there some magic secret???? I've had this stupid trailer (yes, I'm getting mad at it at this point) for sale since August. I've had probably five people come out to look at it then go....oh I didn't realize it needed this much work....  At which point this is my face! Because I clearly list in the add every thing that is wrong with it and all of it's quirks.
And the fact that I'm selling only because my horse won't load into it (but tries to jump onto everyone else's trailer). Then they try to give me a spiel about things I need to do to get my mare to load. I've never realized how many weird horse people there are in this state until I put this trailer up for sale and I'm not fond of them walking around my barn ('cause everyone knows they have to say hi to alllllll of the horses and know alllll of their stories, then I have to listen to their stories).....so please, is there some magic secret to selling a trailer?  |

Location: Where I am happiest | Advertise it as a project fixer upper in the heading. Then everyone knows you know it needs work and they wont try to educate you on what you already know. Put it in the heading. Also make sure you are selling it cheap enough. |

price dictates everything when you are selling anything. if it is priced accordingly, and as long as you arent in some remote place like alaska or timbucktwo, it will sell. i sold a little two horse bp that i could have gotten maybe $500 more for than what i took if i waited around for the right buyer, but i looked at the market prices, and priced it lower than what anyone else was selling theirs for. two weeks it was gone. yes $$ does matter. but i also know people who have been trying to sell LQ trailers for years (yes years), simply b/c they dont want to take a loss on it and are asking the payoff. all depends on what your goals are with selling it. |

Location: OK | I don't know what kind of shape it's in, but it never hurts to wash it, clean the floor, grease everything so it doesn't squeak anywhere. Make it look and sound as good as you can without putting in more $.
Also, new tires scare me off. Old trailer with new tires? Why in the world would a seller do that unless the axle is bent and the tires wear uneven and they're trying to hide something. I know that's not always the case, but sometimes.... |

Location: N Texas | Honestly, if you want it gone fast, you have to price it below everyone else's. I had one for sale for months before I found a buyer. Even then, I took way less than what I originally was asking, and I'm letting them make payments. I had always told myself I would never let anyone make payments, but I was desparate to get it sold for a decent price, and the buyers and I have a couple of mutual friends. So far so good!
If it's been for sale since August and you've only had a few bites, then you've got it priced too high. |

| I just sold my horse trailer. I sold it within 2 weeks. I alway kept my trailer clean and in good shape but I realized it was a 16 yr old trailer. I spent $100 fixing up minor things on it. (Replaced a crack vent, sealed up some cracks in the door, and rewired the whole trailer.) Then I decided to use my parent's property to sell the trailer. They live next to a highway. It was pretty easy because I didnt have to be there to show my trailer. Do you have any friends that would let you park your trailer on their property so that people who drive by can take a look? |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Move it away from the barn and horses so they wont be wanting to check the horses out, and I would not tell them that my horse wont load in it, so that way you wont be getting anymore lessons on loading, LOL.Just be up front when they get there about the trailer, and I am sure you are. The right person has to come along, and it only takes one.  |

| I feel your pain. I actually was able to sell mine within a month, BUT I had about 30 people call about it and about 10 come look at it. My trailer was a OLD 75 4 horse straight load bumper pull. I had the floor boards replaced, new mats, the bearing were just packed 500 miles ago. 5 brand spanking new tires, new wiring and lights. I had people call and say oh I thought it was a gooseneck, even though my ad says bumer pull. I then had someone show up said they wanted to buy it, then came with a SUV and then said "oh it's to heavy" well no duh it's a steel 4 horse trailer. What SUV do you know that can haul that much weight. My ad had about 20 pictures on it of this trailer. There were no secrets. People came and was like oh it's in really rough shape. Bull effing pucky lol it was ugly it needed a paint job but I figured my money was better spent on you know, making sure the trailer was safe for horses vs looking pretty. I ended up dropping my price $800 and selling it. I should have taken that $1500 and just gotten a fancy new paint job and left everything else to rot and could have sold it for the $2800 I was asking lol. |

| I've finally started looking for a new trailer for myself and all the ones around are priced $1500-$2500...for trailers from the 70's & 80's.....that need new everything....Mine's a '97 so I priced it for $2000, that's what I paid for it Jan 2013. The tires were weather rotted, looked fine on the outside then one blew and it was all rotted and weather cracked inside. So we replaced all four and the spare just to be safe. |

| I had to wait at the barn for an extra hour for one person's trailer repair guy to show up to take a look at the trailer. Now they are gonna decide if they want to look at it tomorrow. I have one person Sunday who wanted to look at it TODAY but I have to work and one person sometime this week depending on the weather.

Jan n feb r crap selling months.
Weather starts changing after that n folks get income tax money n spring fever lol
Give it another month n folks will start getting out n shopping. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | We have a horse trailer we need to sell. We are going to wait until spring but before we put it up it will be thoroughly cleaned, all wiring checked, repack the bearings, and have everything ready to go on it. We got a good deal on it when we bought it in 2008 so we will be able to price it low and hopefully sell it quickly. |
