| What size trailer is reasonable to pull with a 3/4 ton Chevy? Newer model?
Currently have a 3H gooseneck with extended dressing room. Been contemplating upgrading to a Living quarters. My hubby thinks that it would be reasonable to have a 12ft LQ 3 or 4 horse. I'm not so sure. He thinks it would be comparable to a 28ft GN Camper. |

Location: Texas | I would think more along the lines of a 8 or 10 ft LQ. |

My BFF has a newer Chev 3/4T with the Duramax. She bought a new Cherokee 4 horse trailer with either a 12 or 14' shortwall. She pulled it from SD to AZ and is basking in the sunshine as we speak. |

| You could probably pull it, but I would be worried about stopping if it were loaded down. I have an 8ft 3h and and f250 4x4 short bed. It is just about perfect. I live around a lot of hills and it is just enough to pull it and get stopped when loaded down. A larger trailer would definitely scare me to try and stop safely. |

Well that's just rude. She didn't invite you!! LOL
I worry because ponies in the back weigh a lot more than the stuff in the camper, and the water in the camper is in the front.
I'm still only contemplating updating, but thought I'd ask here for suggestions. :) Keep them coming! |

She did and I turned her down!!! She's down there with TricksterJ. I saw pictures of them riding in t shirts and tank tops. I hope they get a sunburn. LOL My youngest is 18 and a Sr. I have to stay home one more year and be a mom. Besides I have more horses than would fit in my trailer and I'd cry leaving any of them home. I might miss my hubby too. Just a little. |

I see quite a few folks down in AZ who are living it up. I am stuck in 12+ inches of snow and super low wind chills (-20 to -30ish) So I'm dreaming instread! |

| If your worried about weight you could always install some airbags on the truck. A friend of mine has a 4h with a 12ft LQ and pulls hers with a 3/4 ton. She hasn't had any trouble. It can be slow going once it's fully loaded but other than that.... |

Location: Buffalo, TX | If you have a new 3/4 ton gas engine, you can tow 13,000 lbs....if you have the Duramax, you are rated for 17,900 lbs.......but if you go 8' wide, you won't have the stability of a dually....if you pull in mountainous areas, for sure get a trailer with elec/hyd brakes.
We weighed an 8' wide Platinum 4 horse trailer with a 12' LQ, haypod and generator and it weighed 10,500 lbs....so that's the most weight you would be pulling from what you said you wanted, plus your horses and gear.... |
