I love it. I like the way it rides so far, even if I did just piddle around a few minutes tonight since it was 5* out. I had to know how it fit and how it rode! I think I'm really going to like it.
It fits Max better than anything else I've set on him, but it is still a little tight on his right shoulder.
Rewind and this horse was all sorts of a chiropractic nightmare when I got him. His right shoulder still goes out quite a bit and we think my old saddle pinching it only irritated the issue. The saddle was too wide for him. We will be continuing to do a ton of work to build up and strengthen that right shoulder, and we are fortunate enough to have an in house chiropractor who's willing to pop it back in whenever I need it done.
So in the meantime, I need to shim. I can for a reasonable amount travel to a former trainer and have a custom pad made. That is one option. I'd like to investigate pads I could change the shims on as well, since we will continue to work on that shoulder and get him evened out - hopefully. He could just be crooked. That would be quintessential Max.

Thanks. I did a bad job of explaining it I think. I talked with a saddle fitter friend who's about 3 hours away and he gave me some ideas to try until the weather shapes up and I can get the horse and saddle up to him. I have a thinner pad to try as well - knew I should have gotten that 1/2" 5 star before the sale was over!
