Location: Kentucky | I just saw on Facebook that there was a large fire at a boarding/training facility in Athens, GA. The fire killed 18 horses, plus destroyed the barn, and countless personal possessions. They have a link set up as a fundraiser, if anyone is interested. This place was beautiful, and it is so sad to think of those 18 horses gone.

Very, very sad. I can't believe I didn't see anything about this on the news.
ETA - I can't believe someone would dislike the original post. Wow. |

| They also had one in Georgetown, Ky Feb 9 that killed eight TBs, mostly yearlings being prepped for a sale. I saw the devastation of a barn fire at Sallisaw, Ok many years ago. The sad survivors are imprinted on my brain. |

| very sad. I wonder if they had heat lights on or a heater or some kind. I'm a professional worrier and fire is only 1 of my fears. |

Location: Centerville, TN | So sad to hear this... We lost our barn to a fire. My horse was inside. My dad got him out but Cowboy had second and third degree burns. Took a year to get him back to rodeo pen. That is him in my picture to the left. Lighten was the cause of our fire. We had over 400 bales of hay put up for the winter and when the lighten hit the barn, it went up like a match stick. I've had times in the night that I get up and look out to the barn to make sure everything is alright. And if a thunderstorm comes through, I'm a bundle of nerves, so is Cowboy... Bless those that did all they could at the Athens fire...... |

Location: Millen Ga | A friend of mines daughter goes to UGA and boards her 2 horses at that facility. They were in that barn up until a week or so before the fire- they blow the aisles out several times a day and caused her mare to develop allergies so they moved hers to a different barn- otherwise her 2 would have died as well. She did loose all of her tack though. Very sad situation, prayers for all those who had losses. |

Location: Never in one place long | This is awful!! Part of the reason why I rarely ever stall my horses... I'd be way too paranoyed! :( I can't imagine how scared they were! |
