I'm from NH, so dealing with big snowfalls is second nature to me.  I used to think folks down here were drama queens with the 1 and 2-inch "storms."  Then I realized how horribly the roads are maintained because the state and communities just do not have the equipment and winter resources the north has.

It is still nice to be in a warm house and know the critters are all happy with ice free water and heads buried in hay :)

I'm from Montana, and 3 inches is nothing. Heck, you darned near have to get 6+ inches of snow to keep people in or home. They hardly ever close the roads here unless it is really slick or the snow plows need more time to clear them.

Main roads down here are ice and slush, secondary are snow covered and it's wet snow, not dry powder stuff. We might venture over to the river levee to sled in a bit...I don't really mind being stuck at home for a day or 2 waiting for melt.

The snow on the roads has all packed to a sheet of ice. In my area, the hills and bridges have been treated but the roads in between are extremely slick

I am not sure 3 inches of snow can be a blizzard anywhere can it

We are finally getting our winter, yeah, we had 2 inches on Monday another inch over the week and 6 inches just yesterday.(Hills and Mountains got some good inches up to 30 over the week) Our little farming valley might just be able to irrigate for a bit this summer if this keeps up.   And no it was not a blizzard just a storm.  We had a blizzard in the late 90's and the national guard had to come in and feed cows with helicopters that was pretty cool.  Of course some of the drifts were over the top of the plows.

Our little town does not plow roads, my daughters little car had to pretend to be a truck to get home last night. She did follow the snow plow home on the main highway.

But already today it is in the high 30's and everything is melting and will be a muddy mess all week as it is supposed to change to snow at night and rain during the day. We need it so badly I vow to not complain about the mess. Since it does not rain here all summer we have to get it all in winter and spring.

Roads are trying to clear, but Im afraid they will freeze overnight and be bad in the morning... We just came in from a little fun in the snow :) Its supposed to get in the upper 40's tomorrow, so hopefully it melts off nicely before our next round on Monday!!

and I was joking about the blizzard comment... Its just that with any kind of wintry precip. here, we have to shut everything down because we just don't have to deal with this type of weather often, so most folks don't know how to deal!! I sure hope everyone gets the precip. they need!! We had a drought this last summer and it was no fun!!!

It added up on the roads so fast! I'm used to snow not being such a big deal, but I guess since the weather has been so cold it all stuck to the roads. My husband got off work at 8 pm Friday and by the time he made it home he couldn't make it up a hill by our house, he had to walk home. I felt so bad! I tried to go get him on the 6-wheeler but the dang thing wouldn't start. Boo winter.

I'm in Michigan this week we had some where close to 3 feet and another 2 inches today. With the wind blowing snow over the drive way we've had to step on the gas put in 4x4 and hope we had enough momentum to break through to the road and the worst part is we already cleared it with the snowblower the night before so we thought we were good to go.. umm nope.
