Location: Opelousas, LA | Our pony horse is colicing, track vet has pretty much done all she can, coming by to tube more fluids and give more Torb. Need suggestions on where to take him if he doesn't get any better soon.
Just don't want to take him somewhere where they will run fluids in him, get him comfy and leave for the night. I would like to be sure there is someone there to monitor him and not sure who to trust. |

Location: North MS | The benton clinic was good with a cat I had to have leg amputated. They didn't charge a horrible amount. I didn't have a horse in benton when I lived there. I was interning for corps of engineers. Would have loved to volunteer at track. I surely hope they can help your hubby's horse. It has been a bad colic season. |

| Schwartz and Franklin are in together just before you get into Benton and both are excellent. The two Drs Lewis are in Benton, turn right at the high school and just pas the Bossier Parish Riding Club arena and the baseball field. I know that the Lewis' do colic surgery but do not know about Schwartz as I have never needed him for that. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | He is at the Lewis clinic, turns out we have used thier uncle for years when we lived in Texas. Dr. Lewis at Elgin Vet, small world, lol.
Our horse has two impactions but is comfortable and getting IV fluids, praying for poop and no complications. We feed three small meals a day, free choice hay and my hubby is probably the only trainer at the track who insists on watering with warm water this time of year, and we still get an impacted horse, go figure.
Its in Gods hands now, and considering what other BB's are going thru, I have much to be thankful for. Thanks so much for the help and good thoughts! |

I think it is the weather. I had one colic last Saturday and could not get an E TX vet. Took him to my trainer and a couple of Acculife patches and a couple of sessions on the theraplate had the pooper working. I think we just shook the schit out of him. Hope your horse gets better fast.

Location: Opelousas, LA | He is much better this morning, not out of the woods but comfy on nothing but banamine and the impactions very soft now. Poor hubby sat with him all night so he is at the track this morning running on no sleep and nothing but a honey bun and coffee since yesterday morning.
Thanks so much for the prayers and good thoughts, very much appreciated!
BTW we are very happy with the vet clinic we ended up at, will probably be using them when we are stabled at LAD.

Location: Opelousas, LA | He is pooping and happy and HUNGRY, just got in and saw this. Vets are keeping him til Tuesday so hopefully hubby can get some sleep tonight.
Our guys dam was put down last week so I guess he had a very special angel looking after him, she was probably one of the last daughters of Dash for Cash still alive, very nice mare. Thanks for all the prayer and concern, very glad he didn't have to join his Mom last night. Hope everyone had a great weekend! |

Our old man pulled through a couple weeks ago, but we lost a mare that belonged to my friend's daughter the day before Thanksgiving. Seems like some evil colic troll is throwing darts at random and you just never know how it will turn out. The old man appeared so much more worse off than the mare, yet he pulled through. Crazy.
I will continue to pray for your horse. Hope your hubby gets some sleep. |
