What are the best fundraising events ya'll can think of?  Preferably that include animals.  I am interviewing with a nonprofit that helps people during financial hardship with caring for their animals as well as foster program for deployed military.  They have quite a few programs to help people and animals in need.  I wanted to see what some of you have done for fundraising.  Small or large!

Keep in mind that it's easier to get sponsors for stuff rather than $. So, whatever function you have, like a barrel race, you can take all that was donated to you, and it can be ANYTHING, and sell chances on it. Sell the chances on the whole package or break it up. All you need is 1 person to take the $ and keep the box of chances and draw when it's time. It's easy to do and you don't have to buy tickets, just cut up some paper.

Silent auctions are good, because they also can be anything from brownies to clothes to stud fees.

Dinners, are a great way to fundraise, with live auction and silent auction.

I definitely want to get an annual dinner with silent auctions.  Our town does a lot of them for different organizations and they are always a huge success.

I'd say dinners, auctions and also making things to sell... our animal shelter makes homeade dog treats and sells TONS of them, you can also make other things like soaps and candles??? What about a 5k run that you can bring your dog in or a trail ride fundrasier or show???

Definitely silent auctions. You get company's to donate product and you end up making quite a good amount of money. I did this one charity event where people were in team of 3 competing. The night before the event it was kind of like a talent show and people had to come up with an act, or jokes, or made up song and then people from the audience bid on them. All of the teams were "bought" by someone in the audience and then the next day they would all compete. The riders entry fee went towards the charity but there was also money the riders could win if they did win the event. Ended up raising I think almost $50,000. Super fun and all went to a great cause

Definitely a 5k.  They have become so popular!!!!  And are super easy to put on.  My husband and I did our first ever 5k saturday.  It was to benefit a fallen firefighter who is fighting for his life right now.  I heard about it maybe 2 weeks ago.  It cost $25.  They did do t-shirts (though I think they got those donated) and had some breakfast stuff and water.  Most of the time you can either get PD to donate their time or do it minimally if it is for a cause.  Anyways, saturday they had  600 participants and I don't know how many virtual runners.  When we started they were at 400 runners and $10k + in entries/donations.

There are 5k's everywhere and if you make it fun (they do a paint the town one and you end up with paint everywhere on you) they will come.  It's crazy.

You can also do a poker run or a playday/fun day by donation type thing.

Great ideas everyone!  I really like the 5K with your pets idea!  Our town is such a great pet community that I think anything that involves the animals will go over great!

There is a rescue here that will create a want list on Amazon and then post it on their Facebook page from time to time.  They will have everything from toys, water bowls and cages on there and you can purchase from the list and it is sent directly to the rescue.
