I'm going to have my mare sewn up in a few weeks and I'm going to start riding her once she is cleared to ride again and I'm wanting to do a check over on her about anything that may be wrong. I'm having my local vet do the sewing up so I'm just going to have him do this too. What all should I ask him to do or expect him to do? She's never had any issues but we are going to be hauling more this year than she ever has so I want to make sure there's nothing hiding.

I would just do basics if you havent had any issues... hocks, stifles, then I would also add the front feet to just be safe of navicular, heal pain of any kind, and be done. Maybe have him flex her dorsal and ventral in the back and left to right with her neck to to make sure all her facets are in good range.

Not wanting to steal your thread, but has anyone had a vet write out a statement at the time of an exam stating what he did and if they found anything? I am wanting to list a horse for sale this spring, and will be getting a basic lameness exam done with flex tests beforehand just for my knowledge. But I didn't know if I would be out of line to ask the vet if he could make a statement saying that X horse passed a basic flex text on X day. Thoughts?
