| I am going to buy a Ipad within a week or so. Explain to me why I would buy from Verizon and have a monthly bill and a 2 year contract instead of buying from someplace like Best Buy or Wal Mart and have no monthly bill. Is there some kind of advantage to going through Verizon? Also, who has the best prices? |

Location: Broxton, Ga | You will only have a monthly bill if you get data service..........that would be what the monthly bill would be and 2 year contract........if you are only going to use wi-fi......then you don't need monthly service......... |

Location: Phoenix | If you think you'll travelwith it, I would go with Verizon. if you don't think you'll ever leave the house, buy from Best Buy/Apple.
Sure, you find find wifi anywhere. HOWEVER, it's not always unlocked or free. Plus sometimes our wifi is super slow and I change it over to data to speed things up. |

| I just use mine with wifi at home, since I don't have a plan with a cell company for it, I can't use it traveling (unless there is free wifi where I am going). |

Location: PA | I just got an Ipad. I bought it straight from Apple online. I got the WiFi and internet service. I have a monthly bill for the data, but no contract. I can change the amount of data per month if I choose to. I use mine EVERYWHERE, and love having the internet on it at all times. |

| Mine came from Best Buy, i just use it with WIFI.
if you ever decide you want a data plan later, even if you didn't get it from verizon, you can still purchase a data plan from them. |

| Mine is WiFi only and I love that. At first I was a little disappointed that I could not use it where ever but now they only time I ever use it is when I have WiFi... and I don't have a contract or have to pay extra! |

Location: Oklahoma | Mine was purchased thru BestBuy with the AT&T set up. I didn't have a sign a contract (but it was 2.5 years ago, so it might have changed.) and I can set my plan up for a recurring charge, or I can just pay once I use up whatever amount of data I had bought. I personally couldn't have one that was WiFi only. I have to use it for internet service whenever my phone (U.S. Cellular) doesn't have service. I can't comment on Verizon. They didn't have service in my area when I first got the iPad, but have since expanded and put up more towers. |

Location: TEXAS | I am pretty sure if you want data or may possibly want to add it in the future, you must buy the iPad set up for it. It was about $100 difference in those and the ones for wifi only. Also, you will need to determine if you want Verizon or AT&T. There is a difference. |

If you have a smart phone you can use the hotspot service off of it. Works greats |

My Smart Phone has a "Wifi HotSpot" Feature in the Service Plan. It is password protected so I can regulate who uses 'my' Wifi. It is wireless by the way!

The hotspot is awesome! I have AT&T, and it cost around $5/mo to have the hotspot set up on your phone and then you can connect your iPad or PC to have WiFi where ever you are. The downside is.. you can only have it where you have phone service. I have the iPad with just wifi, but setting up the hotspot on my phone is a lot cheaper then the ipad having an actual data plan itself. |

It is a really nice feature. just check your data plan on your phone. I use my ipad a lot and use it off of the hotspot |

My husband used to use this feature a LOT for work with a previous company. He had to lug around their laptop for invoicing. He used the hotspot feature when traveling quite a bit. |

if I had to do it all over again I would go back and buy the iPad with its own data service. I hate always having to rely on a phone |

Location: Lost in Texas | I got a iPad last spring from Verizon with the data plan. There's no contract on it and I can call and cancel anytime. I love not being tied to wifi. It was my entertainment while I sat for three hours at the dr this morning. |
