I've had aussies all throughout my childhood, and I know they can be aggressive dogs, they can be very protective over their ppl and I know they are aggresive working cows. I Bought my First Aussie 2 years ago and it has been non stop training on her.

I had her in pup classes to get her socialized and she loved all the ppl and dogs then she got kicked by a colt and she cracked her skull and broke some ribs and spent a week at the vets. I got her back, scared of all ppl (not horses or cows) and aggresive with all dogs.

When I take her to my parents she will scrap with those dogs and wont back down till i get inbetween. Big men she will shake and let a bit of a growl, but has never even thought about biting, and I get after her and she wont quit.

When I take her to rodeos and another dog sniffs her she will try to fight him on the end of my leash.

She is a good hardworking dog when you get her around ppl she is familair with, she works cattle great for me and my brothers play rough with her and she loves them.

I just dont know what to do about the aggresiveness. She is always on leash when we go somewhere! What do you suggest? I use a choke chain on her and she respects it, I havent used a pinch yet, but I am going to

TBH I would leave this dog at home. I would be afraid of a lawsuit, or worse, having to put my dog down if it bit someone.

If she cracked her skull, there could be some neuro issues that are causing her aggression.

I thought the same. I would leave her home -  where is comfortable. I would make sure she had a secure area to stay in while you are busy so if someone shows up she doesnt do anything she shouldn't.

funny how they are so protective of their people and things, my new one will be dead sleeping beside me and if she "thinks" she hears a mouse fart inthe hallway she off like a shot to kill it..........lol...its actually just the old dog moving around......and our old aussie would probably bite if somebody tried to get in the house or "his" truck........or when we are parked at a barrel race he lets us know if somebody is coming to close......i think you will just have to be careful with her and not get her in a bad situation (dont let another dog sniff her, you know it sets her off so avoid it...for her sake)

I have an old aussie that suffered a traumatic brain injury when he was a pup. He isn't aggressive or scared with people, only with one of our livestock guardian dogs and sometimes with unfamiliar dogs. We keep the LGD and Rocky (aussie) separated, and because of his inconsistent behavior and extreme anxiety he stays at home unless he really needs to go somewhere.

I had nearly the same problem with my 2 yr old. though I did leave him a stud, he was socialized well early on, took him everywhere, introduced him to everyone and everything I could. when I moved from IA to MD my options for him to get energy out was a dog park, or walking him on a leash for hours.
as a fresh 1 yr old pup playing with another pup at the park, his same age a very large newfoundland came in and B-lined it to him and attacked him. (obviously this would spring out aggressiveness if he was every gonna have any) from then on I have had trouble with him picking fights, being nervous about people (esp since he's gotten fixed) he got kicked in the face by a horse and had a little time spent at the vet which I believe scared him good all over again.

Mine is a constant training process also, and I have really benefitted from taking a lot of notes from Cesar Milan and local dog trainers he seems to be doing MUCH better. I have been applying him to a dog agility classes and he'll go to a group that is just right for him to help him realized every dog he meets doesn't want to rip him up. I have learned my dog immediately feeds off my energy before he ever even acts to anything.

Thank you for the reply's! I thought I should add that I do leave her at home if I have to! But my BF and I are so busy that we have too take her with us quite a bit. It's too cold to leave her outside right now.

And in the summer we do leave her outside most of the time. We just moved to our new place a few months ago. but I've discovered my neighbours dogs are traveler's one is a black lab and the other are 2 great pyrenees. Im afraid if they come over and shes in the yard she will pick a fight and finally loose for good.
so unfortinatly im gonna have to lock her in the house quite a bit.
she loves puppies! she will play all day when it comes to a pup!!

She has been socialized alot! but im lost on how to get her over her aggresivness!
