| I just got flowers delivered to my doorstep...I'm pretty sure they're from a guy I work with occasionally and he's married. I'm thinking it might be him because he ssked for my address this week (said he needed it to send an estimate but he could have just given it to me as I see him fairly often) I have recently started getting Facebook messages from a family friend who's about 18 and have been getting hit on at church by a man who's probably close to my dad's age. I don't know what about me would make any of them think this is ok. I'm 39 and apparently more defective than I thought lol.
All this just grosses me out... It was kinda funny and sooo something that would happen to me...I was so excited when I saw the flowers....then life was like "Haha! Just kidding with ya...these are from a married guy you'd never date even if he wasn't! " |

I know it could but I really do take offense and am a little angry about these flowers. I've known this guy for a long time and he should know me better than to think I'd ever have anything to do with a married man. Hell, I'm not even friendly so I know I'm not giving him the wrong idea |

Location: NE Texas | When I was in the 8th grade, my boyfriend dumped me on Valentine's Day.....and then I got one of those candy grams like you buy through the school from him. I was heart broken; he was my first love. From that day, I refuse to put much stock into the importance of this day.....it's a day for those who don't show their love and put their mate first every other day of the year. |

Picture of her face during the flash PLEASE ;) bhaahahaha. priceless. I wish you weren't joking LRQHS!
I have this mental image reel going in my mind of this sweet gal opening the door to her house all calm, then her face freezes, then the "oh HELL no" moment, and then the uncontrolled laughter!

Don't feel bad, it happens to most of us I think. I got felt up by an old man when we were in Jamaica last December. If he hadn't been so old, I would have gotten mad, but I figured if I could make his last years a little more interesting, it was worth the indignity. |

Don't be silly...some men think they are special and above the law (the married ones), some thing they are sugar daddys (the older ones), and some think they are cool enough to score a hot, mature woman (the younger ones). None of course are worth your time, but I think it's flattering nontheless.
As for your brother, tell him to take a hike.....he obviously doesn't know chit.

But the way I would play it with the guy would be to pretend you never even got them...never saw any flowers. If he asks you if you got anything special for Valentines day...Play Dumb.....just give that blank look and say "nope...it was just another day".
Maybe that will get the point across. If he is bold enough to take credit and say he sent you flowers tell him you didn't get them...and besides...shouldn't he have sent them to his wife?

Yep that's my plan! I avoid confrontation as long as possible but if he brings it up...I have no social skills...I'll say too much in a not very tactful way. I need to find someone to give them to and brighten their day because they just make me cringe and feel like a loser. |

Common Sense and then some
Location: So. California | If the flowers really make you that uncomfortable, turn them into a positive. Take the flowers to a senior center and give them as a valentine to all the ladies there, take them to a hospital and give them to woman who needs a lift me up... Divide up the bouquet and given them to a dozen women who don't have someone to celebrate with today. The possibilities are endless...

Location: Canada | If there was no note and no indication of who they were from I'd be phoning the florist and asking for the information. You may think they are from the married coworker but maybe they are just from a friend or someone else. Maybe a card was to be included but accidentally got left out with all the VDay rush. When we were younger my best friends and I used to send flowers to whoever was single on VDay - granted it wasn't a dozen red roses but it was a pick me up so maybe that's all this is.
Phone the florist and find out who sent them. You may be fretting over nothing or you may have a more serious issue on your hands. Once you know you can make a decision on what to do.

I know it could but I really do take offense and am a little angry about these flowers. I've known this guy for a long time and he should know me better than to think I'd ever have anything to do with a married man. Hell, I'm not even friendly so I know I'm not giving him the wrong idea
Maybe you should take them to his house and say you must have gotten them by mistake? |

This is the only post know the thread I've read. Do you think h could've asked your address for someone else possibly? |

This sound like a good plan. You need to know who so you can plan your next step. |

LOL, mine called me whining that he didn't want to go buy candy after work & have to deal with the crowd.......................................................................................................................................... For our daughter.
I told him he was off the hook, I got her a card from us & gave her the money for a movie & dinner with her friends tonight. THEN, I got the sheepish -- "I don't even have a card for you" again, more laughter from me, "well, the only reason I've got one for you is that I was working today & had to call on a couple of Krogers"
This is supposed to make you laugh not be a 'one up you'! :) |
