Location: Tornado Alley | ~~15 Minutes ago I was stretched out in bed with ice on my ankle and my nose in a book when I herd a Mountain Lion scream. I am not kidding. I am not under the influence of any kind! Very creepy. My dogs went nuts and Dean slept through it all. I hope my mares are ok. They will just have to take their chances. I will not go out there for any thing. |

We have them around here too. I would be freaking out over my horses if I knew one was close enought to my house to hear like that. I would be turning on as many outside lights as I can. |

| When I lived in central MO, one day I noticed the horses run out of the shed and rather excitable. Then a mountain lion came bounding out of the pasture into the back yard. They are more common than you would think. Also saw a bobcat just out side city limits at night in the car headlights - jumping the ditch on the side of the road. |

Location: Kansas | a buddy of mine was attacked by a female mountain lion in alma. He was running, and must have ran by her den and she jumped a barbwire fence and attacked him. He punched her multiple times in the head until she passed out then he seriously ran 8 miles home. I've seen one running out in a pasture on south 99 when I was hauling out to an arena. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | I grew up 12 miles north of Hutchinson, near a small river and creek, and our neighbor kid (high school age) ran into one running into the trees from his brother--like literally the tail hit him in the face as he ran under the branch the cat was laying on. He must've been full because he never came after the kid as he backed out of the trees (didn't want to turn his back on him). Game warden told him he had to be mistaken, but around that same time, our friends just a couple miles south of us found a 250# ewe carcass up in a tree...two seperate times. Again, game warden told us it was bob cats.
I used to work for a feed company in Pratt and had some customers in Barber County, near Medicine Lodge. They kept loosing calves and a few foals, and would have several colts come out of the pasture with huge gashes down their hind quarters. We are sure it was a big cat, trying to grab them from behind. One was shot in the county a few years ago (6ish years maybe) by a guy cutting firewood. He got in big trouble because he admited that it wasn't threatening him at the time...but there were several ranchers that cheered the guy on. |

Location: Lone Star State | We have them around here...spooky but I kinda like them because I have not seen a wild hog in a long time. Wild hogs are so bad in east Texas and I know mt lions prey on them. I saw a mountain lion a mile from my house while riding 4 wheelers so I know one is around. Scarey but gorgeous. I have yet to lose a calf on our place due to an attack. If or when I (or neighbors) do, I'm sure I'll change my mind about them!! |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Here in Arkansas the Game and Fish officers said for years "There are no mountian lions/big cats in Arkansas". No matter how many sightings or game camera pictures etc they had. But now...the "Body of evidence" literally...has become overwhelming. They can't deny they are here. So...they changed their tune to: "They are here...but they are not breeding"...uh...ok. |

| We have one at our house.... It's on my wall. But in all seriousness my husband has seen three here in Oklahoma, two over by Pawhuska. Not as big as the ones we have in Colorado but they're good size. Heard they introduced them to this area to take care of the deer population. Some people tried to tell us that he saw a bob cat but bob cats don't have tails so... |

Is that the same government that says there is no corruption at the IRS? of course there are big cats. A big cat is more believable than an honest policitian |

I've not seen one but several neighbors have. For several years game & parks denied they were in Nebraska too and inside a week there was one hit on the interstate between Lincoln and Omaha. Not long after that they killed one in Omaha. Now we have a season on them. |

I heard one once. My dogs got super quiet and close to the house. They were as scared as I was. I did actually beat them back to the house! |

I didn't know we had a season on them now. There have been a few up by my house (caught on game camera and tracks in snow) and I know some mushroom hunters found one dead in Yutan last year. I haven't heard of anyone losing any livestock to them but we have a ton of deer around here. |

You'd think, right? But the way he got caught was he put it in the freezer then took it to have it stuffed and mounted, and KDWP headquarters is only a county away in Pratt, so word got around fast and they started asking questions. |

lol it's the entrance to my favourite field to ride and do some exercises in. The entrance has a strand of poplars on one side and a bush with a rock cut going to our one bluff about 20 feet in on another. The field is flat and big so I can play around and basically do whatever with them. I still think about it but I go, my mistake last time was going right at dusk (I don't do that anymore). If I took note and kept away from all the wolf and mountain lion sitings around I wouldn't be able to leave the house. |

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | There was a close up game pic of one in eastern KY sometime last year. Game & fish say they don't exist here but there's too many stories. A couple of years ago I heard "something" that sounded so much a woman being killed that I went and grabbed the shot gun.
Stay safe!!! |
