How does the seat size compare to Billy Cook, Circle Y etc?
Do they run bigger, smaller, or true?

Oh, true I guess, maybe a hair smaller. The angle of the cantle makes it feel tight I guess. I loved it though.

Thanks! I normally ride in a 14" with other brands...looking at a couple used ones. I'm wondering if I should go with a 14, or a 14.5... My billy cook was a 14.5 and too big, but it didn't have a lot of rise in the front compared to the caldwell (it appears anyway)

oy, sorry for all the saddle questions lol.

I never found the rise to limit the size of the seat for me.  I think that they are pretty true to size.  Make sure the person is measuring to the end of the padding and not to the stitching.  Mine was stamped a 13.75, but measured 13.25 to the padding. To me it rode like a 13.5.

Thanks, Linda
That's a good point. I usually ride in a 14. I keep seeing these 14.5 TG's for sale... and then I think "well maybe it will work, my billy cook is pretty flat and the 14.5 is a little big"

I personally think the rise does make it feel smaller but I also think on the TG with the under cut swells that you could ride a half a size smaller. JMO. So it is a give and take depending rise and tree.

And the biggest variable is the ground seat. The higher the ground seat, the smaller the seat will feel. When I had my Caldwell made last year I really wanted a 14.5" ProMax but they only had a 15" tree unless I wanted to wait, so I had them do the highest rise they could and pad the seat a little more and it rides like a 14.5".

depends on how you measure. ... to pommel or base of horn can vary half inch. And to inside of seat or to binding can vary another half inch m. Measure yours and ask tto see one u are looking at measured same way. I have 5 Caldwells for sale on here

I agree that the rise makes a difference. I have a Rocket and had a Promax with very high rises and they made the seat a tad smaller.

The Caldwell TG has undercut swells that allows for more leg room then their other trees and run about a 1/2" bigger. So if you normally ride in a 14" a 13.5" would be what I would get in a TG.

I talked to Charon for a bit, and actually it looks like I would need the pro max or maxed out. She thought I would probably ride in a 14-14.25. Super nice lady!
