whats your favorite hackamores to run barrels and poles in? i am wanting to try a hackamore in my older seasoned barrel/pole mare. i pleasure ride her in a side pull and since shes real turny i thought working her in a hackamore may eliminate some of that idk thought i would try it out but gotta buy one first. whats your favorite hacks???? opinions please. i love the following bit i have seen some trainers use this bit and have been impressed by their horses so if anyone has info on the following bit let me know :) thanks!!

The hackamore you have pictured is an "easy stop" hackamore. I LOVE to tune up my mare in one but I don't run in it, and I almost never recommend it because it is very tricky to use. There was a great article about the use of this handy gadget a few months back in Barrel Horse News.
The proper way to use this hack is bump and release. It applies a minimal amount of pressure on the nose however the majority of the pressure is applied by the metal "spoon" on the sensitive soft tissue between the bars of the jaw. This is wonderful option for someone who has a lot of feel in there hands but again it is most definitely not for everyone especially if a person has a tendency to want to "hang on the reins".
If you are considering this as an option, do a TON of reading about it. If used incorrectly your horse may consider this a medievel weapon. However what we have to remember is every bit or hackamore is only as sever as we make them.

THIS!!!!
I would go a step further and say talk to one of the riders who use this and you admire and TAKE LESSONS with it. I CANNOT ride with one of these, I grew up riding English and have hands that maintain the slightest amount of contact at pretty much all times - my brain and my hands do not coordinate for a bump/release AT ALL.
I think the article in BHN even recommends working with a trainer to learn how to use this piece of equipment - it's no different than needing to learn how to use a spade bit on a finished bridle horse.
My two favorite hacks that I keep in my tackroom are the Jim Warner and the Little S. Can't live without those two.
I recommend the s hack also. Has decent amount of lift but doesn't have much whoa. So much sure your horse has a good stop. I ride and run both of my horses in one.

wow thanks for the responses i have a lot of research to do on the few hacks that were mentioned. the hack that i like i have really watched people use this and i love the response that they get. I dont really touch my mares mouth she relys on a lot of leg, neck and seat i do need a lot of woah tho because if i need to get a hold of her i need to grab her. i can ride her in anything but i rider her in a lifter bit. thanks ill take a look of the bits you guys requested
