I have to say..I don't get what NBC is doing but it's beyond strange...From going on and on about how great Putin and Russia is to bringing back the incident with Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding...That was beyond ridiculous and strange..
I was just watching the snowboarding and couldn't believe the Hobo Coats they are wearing..LOL I wonder if Dolly Parton designed them after her song "The Coat of Many Colors?" LOL |

| I think every time any news or channel mentions the Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan thing they should have to fork over tons of money to charity. I do understand one short initial report each time the winter Olympics comes around because it is so bizarre, but after a one or two minute blip every 4 years that is it. LOL No interviews of either please. |

NOPE not kidding.
Remember the thread before the games started that many disliked the Ralph Lauren outfits that were worn in the opening ceremonies, then we move onto the outfits for speed skating, then we move onto the downhill, then we move onto the...... it's never ending.
They where it proudly and I am proud of them for being there. |

Are they afraid for us to hear the national anthem?? And the woman who made Bode cry should be fired !! He was being so gracious and she did that deliberately!! I was yelling at the TV "shut up woman"!! Anyway the athletes are great love it all. Go USA and good luck to all athletes from all countries!! |

One of her parents may have been from Slovakia or she may have moved there to get citizenship in order to compete. The couple that skated for Japan in Ice Dance are American born with a Japanese parent (I believe) that makes them eligible to skate for Japan. The couple that skated for Germany both moved there to get citizenship in time to compete for that country. I think if you sometimes are up and coming and cannot make the team for your home country, you see if another country might sponsor you and let you skate for them and get your citizenship there if it's possible. |

Yes- Yuna Kim- beautiful!!! Here comes Gracie ! No she was just warming up. There are quite a few that compete for other countries. Did you see the speed skater who won gold for Russia but didn't make his own team I think it was so Korea! I don't know what the rules are tho.

I couldn't agree more. The NBC reporters won't ask Obama anything of importance yet they drilled Bodie. What a crock.
All the athletes are great! Can't imagine working for years for it to come down to one moment to shine. |

Still...Johnny hit a nerve with me when he would wear his Russian Team jacket instead of his USA jacket at training sessions and at international competitions. I think he has grown up alot since then but I still have the visual of Johnny in his Russian attire while be funding the United States Figure Skating Associaiton.
I got to see Johnny Weir when he competed here in Spokane at Nationals? ANYWHO he has quite the flair, and I agree Gail he is doing a great job on commentating. He is also making Taylor Fallons outfits at the NFR look boring!!! |

Location: Gonzales texas | Anyone watching skating this morning?? This is what I mentioned yesterday it's awful when everyone falls down. So far every single one has fallen!! All the hours and money gone into it. It's a shame. I'm sure the other groups will pull it off but this is terrible. Maybe I'm going to go muck my stalls and watch DVD later. I thought the same about the sweaters too but I really like them now. The boarders needed just a little more color. Go USA! I'm going to be watching hockey later for sure!! ???? |

Location: 31 lengths farms | Yes, so far the uniforms have been very understated for the actual events, Hard to tell who's who in them. Probably more to do with athlete safety than anything which is truly a sad thing.
They all need a little Johnny Weir update to their look, LOL!!!
With the time difference its been hard to stay up and watch but I've tried my best, those people have worked their whole lives for a moment that lasts no longer than a Hockey Game at best, its the least I can do to stay awake and watch the do it. |

Okay...thanks..I was just too late to the party..
I saw last night that a snowboarding from the US couldn't get funding. He married a russian snowboarder and is now a citizen of Russia. They both competed in the snowboarding parallel race yesterday and she ended up with the bronze for the women and he won the gold for Russia. No amount of money or fame would be worth it to me to live and be a citizen of Russia. Kind of scary. |

I agree, she was completely robbed. Even the commentators were shocked that the Russian won by such a large margin. Nice skating to watch though.

Location: Southern IL somewhere between KY and MO | I love watching the Winter Olympics it's a bitter sweet thing for me as my daddy was President of the 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Organizing Committee. I wonder what he would think of all the new winter sports that they didn't have back then. 60 Min Sports on Showtime did a special on the Adirondack Boys and they were talking about the day dad refused to go to the hockey game and have to sit with the Vice President. I was laughing because the rest of the story was....Mom and Dad and me were in the kitchen at home the phone rang I answered it Dad said tell them I am not going I'm going to the bobrun. They said put your mom on the phone so I did. Mom hung up and turn to my dad and said " Bernie you are President of the Olympic Comittee you are going." and he went to the hockey game that became the Miracle on Ice. My Dad passed away in 1985 to lung cancer but he will always be in my heart as he also was a lover of horses and encourged me to do what ever I put my mind to. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | You know...I enjoy the Olympics...I used to ice skate many years ago and have always enjoyed seeing the amazing things they can do...especially the Ice Dancing as they are so synchronized and intricate in their maneuvers.
But.... I have about decided that any sport that does not have an objective way of determining the winner (Timed event, distance measured...etc)...shouldn't be in the Olympics. Subjective/anonymous judging is so darn frustrating and so easily biased/manipulated.
Last nights figure skating is a great example. How could a skater that took a bad fall place so far above one with a clean program? But that's what happened, and it happens every Olympics. I tend to watch the performances, and change the channel for the scores. |
