Location: Georgia | I have little silver berries on my saddle cantle and they have turned a nasty yellow color. I just got some new conchos and they clash pretty bad. Would it be a completely terrible idea to get silver spray paint and spray those? I've never done that so I'm just wondering if anyone has attempted and how did to turn out. Thanks! |

Well they aren't really conchos. Just little berries imbeded into the leather. |

They look like nickle silver plated brads. The nickle oxidizes and turns yellow. You can try the silver polish or if you don't have any on hand use tooth paste. I have found that whitening tooth paste works the best, however regardless of what abrasive you use I don't think they will ever be "like new".
And yes, a tooth brush works great and so does a small piece of saddle shearling.
Unfortunately, you are probably stuck with the yellowish color unless you can replace the brads. |

Yep, toothpaste and scrub with a toothbrush!! Did this with a belt buckle and it worked wonders to shine it up. |
