Location: Arkansas | Does anyone else have this issue? I would like to get away from the neoprene (seems to be making them sore mid-chest) and I like the mohair because of the ventilation... would the D ring guards help? |

Location: Texas | Never had them sore from the rings on thw cinch. If anything cinch gall. Your not tightening it a little too much are you? Just asking is all. Are you using the right size? I use a 29 on all my horses but am always sure to pull evenly from both sides
I actually got away from mohait because it can carry a lot of bacteria and it would pass from horse to horse. Went back to just a plain jane neoprene and am very happy. Never had any issues. |

But after the first ride with one he was very sore on his sides from the rings so I went back to my neoprene. I've never had real issues with the neoprene, but recently ive gotten a little attitude while cinching up (which has NEVER happened) and a touch of tenderness under the heart girth. Im thinking about trying the shearling... I said I was going to purchase one long ago, but never got around to it... |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Cinch gaurds would work. You can use a short towel till you have them. If you horse has long hair in the cinch area , shave it off so your not pulling hairs. At horse .com take a look at the felt cinch, it lays flat and has cinch gaurds. I don't have any issues with those. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I switched all mine to shearling. I keep an alpaca CE cinch in my trailer just as a backup if needed but that's it. I had a mare give serious attitude. Spent thousands buying new pads, saddles....it was the cinch. I had been using neoprene Pro Choice. Switched to shearling and she was fine from then on out. |

Location: The edge of no where | Most horses are fine with neoprene....but I've had a couple that seriously hated it. I'm not a mohair fan. Back in the day, it was the best option. Doesn't mean it's still the best. I prefer the classic equine fleece cinches. They are padded behind the buckles, I've never had a horse get sore using one. I don't like the cheap fleece options, but a good quality fleece cinch is pretty tough to beat. (I know the old argument that it won't 'give' like mohair, but if your saddle fits right you don't have to cut them in half with the cinch.) |

Location: Oklahoma | I wont use neoprene because we took a horse to my chiropractor that had been rode in one her whole life and she had so many ribs out, I felt so bad for her. He said a lot of times the neoprene cinches will do that because they dont have any give to them. We switched all of my horses to mohair cinches and theyre doing just fine now. Ive even heard of some people breaking horses ribs with the cinches that dont have any stretch to them at all. I know they are obviously tightening them too much, but I like the mohair, all of my horses stay flexible and never get sore |

Same here, I have always used the mohair. My gelding has some bad scars in his girth and along his belly from trying to just a fence when he was young. I bought a PC shearling cinch at the NFR this year and I love it. I like that you can wash it easily and is still breathes well. |

Same here. I like my girth to be about 6-8" below the saddle ring on each side. I've used mohair for a long time now without any issues.

It wouldn't be a big deal to have the brown... except the fact that I am OCD about mixing brown and black together! Everything else I have is black... Im a bit crazy about stuff like that...  |
