| You all are so good at picking out names for horses I thought I would ask for suggestions. Puppy is going be a female (hopefully there is a female in the litter we like) German Wirehaired Pointer. I wanted to name her Sherman or Wilson and my husband was on board until our friend open his trap and explained the meaning behind the names. Anyway, needing ideas for names so take your best shot (pun intended). :) :) |

Location: Never in one place long | We named our little GSP Kai! I love her soo much. She is the smarest, cuddlest dog with SUCH a personality! We never lock her up and she sleeps in our bed, she is almost a year and turning out to be an awesome hunting dog! I think they do MUCh better when you treat them as family and don't lock them in a cage! :)

Great picture of her with the pheasant!! She looks very proud of herself. I agree, we don't lock ours up in a kennel either, he is a house dog and an AWESOME hunter. :) |

Oh I like Gretchen!! But my husband will say it's too long. He's picky that way. He said he would like a German name but I am not going to go with the usual Greta or Heidi. :) |

| Going down memory lane....we had a GSP for 12 years. Had to put him down about 3 years ago due to liver issues. Friday had the best personality and more energy than a room full of teenagers on Mountain Dew!
RIP Friday, I sure miss you!! |

Great name! I like that. :) Husband did not like any of the names I brought home last night. Sigh. This is worse than naming a child! |

Location: ND--it snows, it floods, it snows, it floods | We always try to keep the names to 1 syllabel because when calling their name it's easier and that's what a trainer told us to do back in the day. That being said our female black labs' registered name is Front Paige FireCracker Max and we call her Paige. My husband wanted to name her Sioux (as in the UND Fighting Sioux) and something with Sioux in her registered name but me being a diehard NDSU Bison I wouldn't allow it. LOL Our male choc. lab is registered as Ladys Chocolate T-Rex and we call him Rex.
So female and germanic: Elsa Anja Gabi Jana Pia Mila Anka Beatrix or Bea for short

Great suggestions, thanks. I am writing them down and will take them home. My husband is a big fan of one syllable names too - our GWP is Gus. My friend told me to name the female Clara so we'd have Gus and Clara from Lonesome Dove. :) |

| Thanks TXBO - I am not entirely thrilled about having 3 dogs but my husband thinks we need to start a new one cause Gus is 5 this year. Anyway, they are due to be whelped somewhere between March 6-8th and we want to pick her up at 7 weeks or so. Husband wants a female this time but if there isn't one in the litter he likes we'll get another male. I promise to post pictures for you and Hotbear after we get the new pup home. :) By the way, I love the name Merkel. I shall suggest that to my husband. |

The only probem is as they get bigger they take more of the bed....at least our black lab does. She's only 55#'s but can somehow manage to stretch tail tip to tounge and take up a whole queen size bed. And she knows where the EXACT center of the bed is every time. LOL |

Great names but none of them are one syllable lol Sorry, it's the teacher in me comig out counting syllables.
We breed GSPs and I love them. Hubby wants to get a wire haired pointer too but I am a bit reluctant due to their reputation as being not as good natured as the GSPs. Different breed entirely.
Good luck with your girl, I love some of the German names. I love Greta but yes, it may be too overused if you are wating something unique. Garbo maybe? GG as in Greta Garbo.
