| What does everyone recommend for a barrel racing pad? There seems to be so many choices and they're so expensive so I want to make sure I get the best pad for my buck! Thanks! |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | 5 star. They are well worth what they cost. They hold up to years and years or use and abuse. They are gorgeous and can be customized. The natural wool is the best thing against a horse's back. They come in different sizes, thickness and have wither cut outs and split backs for maximum comfort.

| 5 star seems to be the consensus! What's the price range and best place to buy them? I take it they're not cheap...

Location: Riding Crackhead. | 5 Stars all the way. I have 5. Buy them from Rockyroad here on the boards. If you have them custom made they will be more expensive than plain jane but the best deals will be from Rockyroad. |

Just depends on how my saddle is fitting, but the 3/4 is my go to pad most of the time |

Love mine! Saddleright is my favorite, but CSI is a close 2nd. I like the extra support they both provide. I also have a CorrecTor pad that I use when shimming is needed. Mine has the cover that's made for them, so the fleece is polyester instead of wool, or I would probably use it more than I do. |

Location: Blissfully happy Giants fan!!! | I have a 5 star and I like it. Right now it is on my big mare. I also have 2 Bayou West Lynn Mckenzie pads. I like them too.
My chiro/acupuncturist is not a fan of barrel pads. She says that pads that come together right at their back are harder on the horses than one that is like one big pad. If that makes sense. Of course all barrel pads do that so I have no answer as to what pad would work nor does she. haha!
The Bayou West pads we have under the martin and the lynn mckenzie. They work well.
I have also tried impact gels, two different pro choice and classic equine pads, a regular wool pad, and I think two others but I can't remember.
I don't like the wade or best ever pads. They look too stiff for me. I think it is important to know what kind of saddle you have and what you are trying to accomplish with the pad for that saddle and horse. |
