I did check and she is the breeder. He's home grown and trained by Charmayne.

| Loved seeing her there!! Mad respect for her abilities. What a lot of people forget is a BIG part of what we do is mental and that girl is a fierce competitor. I think some of the girls didn't quite have that part of the game down yet. But Charmayne had her game face on and it was awesome to see her do so well. |

Fallon described her so well "ice water running through her veins". She was ready to rock and roll!! So glad to have watched such an amazing champion and athlete!! |

LOL... I can't help but think the same thing. I've said it before and I'll say it always.... Charmayne always will be the best barrel racer in the world. No one is better than her. |

I thought "what is she doing up there" and then she knocked it out of the park and I'm not usually a fan of hers. I thought she did very good.
On a side note, who is hte stallion that kicked butt?? Anyone? I thought they said Fire water on the rocks is that correct? |

Me too......... easily.....and if she doesn't want to run him competively because of whatever reason, I'd be extremely honored if she'd let me borrow him so I could whup up on the competition at the local arena by my house. |

A lot of horses to me, missed that 1st barrel and some didn't hold up so good on the ground they had. Congrats go out to Lisa and Lou as they did an awesome job! She never missed a beat even in the Top 4, she went for it but alls she had to do was just leave them standing. Charmanyne was awesome to see again in the saddle. She did a great job. Sure wish she could have made it back. That horse has a long stride. Look forward to seeing it next year. Just hope the weather won't be sooooo cold... |

| What I think was the most impressive about the horse was his demeanor. I am just guessing here, but since she has not been rodeoing for a while, that he has never been in that type of huge environment and look how he handled it. I wonder where the biggest venue is he has even ran at with that type of crowd and noise level?? |

Had he been in any type of environment close to what the American was? I really thought more horses would have an issue with that especially the more jackpot type horses. Grasshopper didn't seem to be fazed by a thing. Its crazy that most of the horses couldn't find any rate at the 1st but Grasshopper found a wee bit too much and came over the top of it. Dang. |

No he's never been in that environment however Grasshopper has the personality that not much bothers him anyways. Streak is the same way in that outside influences don't hinder him. (Half brother). Keep in mind that CJ set his first barrel up to help not going by it. Watching all the horses go by she was ready to help him get that angle perfect and it was just a bit much but certainly nothing to scoff at! The bit is one in her line but it's older I'll see if I can find it somewhere n post it. |

I would sure like to hear the other side of that story. There were many of the top gals who helped CJ and her Mom a bunch. Would suspect the positive way out weighed the negative.

Horrible stuff they would say to her then she would just go smoke them, lol. It was just so unreal to hear her tell the story knowing & seeing all she had accomplished since then. She is an amazing competitor, that is for sure. I'd love to see her back there again next year.
I would sure like to hear the other side of that story. There were many of the top gals who helped CJ and her Mom a bunch. Would suspect the positive way out weighed the negative.

There's always some that will play mind games with you. I wasn't tough enough. Or maybe I wasn't discerning enough to know who to listen to. |

Yes, I believe she has told us that she did. Yes I have a couple videos of me n Grasshopper but I don't hold a candle to CJ on him. http://youtu.be/dCFVBXeaQfw Had he been in any type of environment close to what the American was?
I'm sure she took advantage of seeing all those girls go before her and overshoot the first. Absolutely nothing to scoff at. Soooooooo......does this make her get the itch again? |

The only "jackpot" horses were Clint's, Erin's, maybe June's (although she has probably run him in a circuit rodeo) and maybe Tami (but I bet she's run him in a circuit rodeo as well). Yes the American was quite a bit bigger, but most of them were pretty seasoned rodeo horses from the "qualifier" side. And of the "qualifiers" there were 3 former NFR qualifiers, 2 WPRA circuit champions, and Reno rodeo champion. Erin also qulaified for her circuit finals 2 years ago. They were hardly people that were new to rodeo. Clint was the only one who had never run at a rodeo before! |

Clint's horse had rodeo experience with Christina Dusendang. Erin's had maybe run in slack at few small rodeos in California. Royal Star Commander was the greenest horse there as he'd only been running barrels a year. He didn't run as a 5-year-old. June won the Prairie Circuit Finals on her horse. His first rodeo was some place incredible like Cheyenne in 2012, if I remember correctly. I've slept since then. Hot N Frosted, Tami's horse hit a barrel to win the Columbia River Circuit Finals last year. |

Even Clint's horse has had a bit of rodeo experience. I know Christina hauled and ran him a bit last year. Heck, for that matter, the atmosphere at a big barrel race gets pretty intense when that horse comes in the pen. People run to the fence/arena and holler like mad when he's putting one together! |

Yeah you could tell he had to make some adjustments at first. I cant imagine what he would/could have clocked with a smoother first. I like a rider though that can make that adjustment and recover from it. If my first is bad, I have a hard time getting my mojo back. |

For that matter, June's horse lost some time getting into the first barrel and she barely missed the top 4. Any one of those horses were capable of laying one down and winning it. |

It was like 5 rock concerts combined. If we didn't have earplugs I wouldn't have been able to stand it. Rodeos are noisy, this was something completely different. What got me was he didn't even look like he was running. It looked like she just loped to the 1st. It was so cool seeing her and do well enough to have made it back had she not tipped. I loved it!
Me too, when she was going to the first barrel I didn't thing she was running hard enough BUT what I realized later she was just using her head. So many of them flew right by that barrel and she definitely had it all figured out and did an outstanding job. That horse is so long.

Carlos you looked awesome on Grasshopper and what an honor for Charmayne to ask you to ride her horses! Wow. Am I the only one that thinks Grasshopper's run reminds me so much of Charmayne's and Scamper's runs? Obviously the only difference was she didn't use her bat and hit him 3 times on the shoulder between first and second and then hold the bat on his left shoulder as he turned the second. And yes Grasshopper is a bigger horse than Scamper but the similarities were so obvious to me.
Oh and the other thing I forgot. Doesn't Charmayne have two children or did I just dream that up.

She proved to anyone who doubted her that she's still very capable and has the horsepower to do it on, but for now it's all about her sons. I am so thankful to The American for giving us all another chance to see what a true competitor and great horseman she is and I hope to get to see it again next year!

You have proven yourself as a horseman as well and I look forward to watching your many successes. |

She has lived her dreams and is now focusing on her sons and her family, which is exactly how it should be. She proved to anyone who doubted her that she's still very capable and has the horsepower to do it on, but for now it's all about her sons. I am so thankful to The American for giving us all another chance to see what a true competitor and great horseman she is and I hope to get to see it again next year!

ya know Herbie, I was thinking the same thing... Carlos has done amazing (and does hold a candle on grasshopper) No matter what role you played or how long you had that horse, you made a difference, give yourself some credit!
I agree with her priorities and everything you said Herbie, and it was fun to watch her compete again, just went in and did what she does... the horse does look effortless but make no mistake, he was running... (ive seen comments even go as far as to say she loped to the 1st) LOL RIGHT cause that is what she would do running at that kind of money...lope... whatever, and I agree, Fallon did a great job walking everyone through... |

Charmayne has never once disappointed me! While I am posting I want to touch on a few subjects.
Thank you and yes it's very much an honor and I'm so thankful and I won't ever take for granted that she trusts me with her horses that she loves so much. She trains her horses to utilize their bodies effeciently |

I have watched you for a long time and you are most definitely a hand with a horse. Charmayne most definitely has picked you because of your talents. And yes Charmayne definitely knows a horse inside and out. She can sure think like one. |
