I have to say that I thought Fallon did a real good job.  It was nice to hear someone who knows what they are talking about, and had a delivery that was full of energy and excitement.  Just wanted to give credit where credit is due.

I agree 100%! I love Fallon, always have! She isn't afraid to be "out there" and herself. I love it. She should definitely do more commentating for barrel races and rodeos. With her background in acting and modeling it's no surprise she's comfy with the camera.

I like this post! Fallon does a great job commentating. She is unbiased, educated and speaks in a way that is clear to non barrelracers. I watched the slack and Sunday semifinals and thought WOW what a great speaker she is :) glad she got to speak at the American ...great job promoting our sport Fallon!

You have to also hand it to RFDTV. They took a risk, and I think it was an enormous success.
I think maybe they saw opportunity for Pro Rodeo, as a national spectator sport, to grow and expand it's audience.  This is the sort of thing that was needed.  I was every bit as excited to watch every minute of those 5 hours as I've ever been to watch any Super Bowl or World Series, and that is saying a lot.  They filled up that HUGE stadium pretty well, from what I saw, and I can't think of a better venue to kickoff a new and improved sport that will now grow and expand hopefully beyond everyone's wildest dreams.  I just might fly my kids and their families down to Dallas next year to watch this.  None of them is into rodeo very much, but they are all eager to watch.  I'll bet anything they will become fans.  I love all the fanfare, from the C&W bands, to the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, to the fireworks, to the commentators, including Fallon.  They really paid attention to detail, and it's only going to get better.

I can't wait to get my horses legged up, and I'm an old man.  I can't imagine how a 15 year old must feel!  This is "Americana" and it's good for all of us, and let's not forget Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.  I think the sky is the limit.  We will see cowboys and cowgirls come from places we never before could have imagined.  I wouldn't be surprised to see a new cliche': "Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie.....and Rodeo!

I couldn't agree more hotbear. The American has just taken rodeo to a new level. I look forward to what the future holds for this great sport. Randy Bernard did a wonderful job putting an idea into reality and rfdtv is only going to grow and become stronger as is rodeo.
When you have guys like Trevor Brazile saying they are so excited they can't sleep the nite before that speaks volumes to me. The Trevors and Fred Whitfields of the sport knew the American was a new day for rodeo! Iknow it too. Thanks to all those involved in this great event for making the rodeo dream a reality for so many!

Take 5 min and go give them some kudos.  They REALLY NEED to know how awesome we all thought this was.

Fallon did a great job commentating!!!  It was pretty cool they had someone there who has proven to be competitive at that level calling the race.

I'll bet you anything that the NFR will do a few things to spice things up this year.  Just watch and see.  It's all good.  Excellence is contagious.  What's good for one will be good for the other, in the long run.

I loved it too! There are some that are criticizing some of the rodeo, but really, they only had 6 months and it's the first year. It's only going to get better. A place to go see the best of the best and the "non top 10" go at it. And to give ANYONE a chance to walk the walk, I love it.

Now when people run their mouths about how they could do it better it is put up or shut up.

I agree, she was excellent. What really bugged me is the replays kept cutting off the beginning of the next run, so there were several riders where we didn't get to see their first barrel unless they showed a replay.
Other than that, it was very entertaining to watch and I thought it was so awesome to see not only the legends in each event, but also people who are truly good at what they do, but don't have the time or means to rodeo as hard as the pros. This was such a cool idea, I hope they keep it going!

I thought she did a great job! She did a great job of being right in the moment and kept it interesting. I really liked how positive she was in everything that she had to say. She also kept it real - she voiced for a lot of us how we hated to see those barrels fall in the shootout. She made it even more fun to watch and made you feel like you were part of the excitement that day.

I agree she did awesome! We got home late last night and I just watched it on the DVR and I thought the whole time that she was a natural at it. I guess I didn't tape the pre-show though :( bummer. My husband and I had a wonderful time! The only thing that wasn't fun was the weather, it was 80 degrees and sunny Saturday and then freezing and sleeting Sunday!

Hubby and I both said that we believe she missed her calling. She was great at commentating. We only HEARD the live running of the barrels, since we were on the interstate headed south from Pittsburgh and the webcast wouldn't load, but I enjoyed it.

And I'll admit, I was skeptical of her being up there. I wonder how she felt when the guy mentioned she was one spot out of the NFR standings to qualify AND one spot out of the qualifier results to qualify. I was hoping she would punch him or at least say "At least I made the effort loser face". LOL

I thought she was really good also, good insight, obviously comfortable with the camera and a mic both and off the cuff commentating. I think the NFR will have to step it up!!! And Florida heck, I say if the NFR moves TX and ATT&T stadium looks pretty inviting.

I agree with everyone! Fallon did a great job commenting and I was way more excited to watch the American than I was watching my beloved Seahawks take home a superbowl win!

I believe the sky is the limit with this event and it will only encourage NFR and other top rodeos to step up their game.

Fallon did an excellent job.  My step dad called during the semi's and said she bugged the crap out of him because she kept saying the same thing over and over.  First of all this man complains about EVERYTHING!  Secondly, I told him that she's not a business woman I'd want to deal with but she sure as heck did a nice job commentating.  I like the guys during the NFR but when every tipped barrel was because they "dropped their shoulder" and it didn't matter if the girls hit it giong in or coming out or hitting it front on.  That was the only barrel racing terminology they knew and it drove me nuts.  Fallon called each error as it was and was 100% correct.  When Stingray didn't clock she didn't knock the horse or rider at all she just said that the horses that go to 60 rodeos a year learn to conserve themselves for the avg.  I thought she did an awesome job.  I don't remember now who it was but someone tipped the 3rd and she was about crying for that rider.  My daughter and I re-wound that DVR a few times to listen to her, she took it to heart.
I still wouldn't buy a horse from her but I would let her critique my runs and let me wear her tie dye pants.  The end.

I think her best comment about the alley was in the booth when she said, "They put up a banner, which is good, because I was worried that someone was going to get a barrel racer in their nachos." (or something similar). Even Ty laughed at that.

I don't understand why you would say that as being one out of something wasn't a great accomplishment? If you had seen it live you would have seen how much she liked that recognition as being one out as it was said during the semis and during the finals and trust me..if she didn't want it brought up she would have let them know..LOL She loved the recognition as she should have been.

I thought the entire commentating was awesome.  And I too was skeptical of Fallon, not being a big fan of hers.  But after the semi-finals I was impressed.  She was very positive, didn't judge the riding, etc.  I get so sick and tired of Butch from the NFR and his comments....he says the same stinkin' thing every night and whether the horse shouldered or not, you can be that is what he is going to say....  I agree, gotta give credit where credit is due and she was the BEST barrel racing commentator I have heard yet.

I really enjoyed Roy Cooper, was surprised by how great he did.  Billy Etbauer was also great!  I enjoyed the whole thing.  I missed the pre-game show, we forgot to set the DVR.  I hope the American comes back again!!!

My favorite was during the last round of the calf roping when Roy said "I've been to ___# of County Fair Rodeo's, ___# of NFR's, I've seen Mike Tyson fight, I've been to rock concerts, I saw George Strait in this very stadium and I ain't never seen nothing like this!!!"  (not the exact quote, but something like that)  Rock on RFDTV!!!

hlynn - 2014-03-04 2:44 PM Hubby and I both said that we believe she missed her calling. LOL

The way he said it made it sound like he was mentioning how she was one away from being good enough to be there. That's how it sounded to me anyways.

I wish they would hire her for the NFR instead of Charmayne. Just my two cents. When she's not into qualifying for it anymore anyways.

I agree...she was laughing and joking with Justin McKee and he certainly wasn't puttting her down.....He was recognizing her accomplishments.......I just wish she wouldn't have talked quite as much or a little slower but you could tell that she was "excited" to be there.....

Can we agree not to go there for a change? This has been a positive, upbeat thread. Let's not kill it. I think this has put a lot of people with cabin fever in a good mood.

I wasn't surprised Fallon did a good job. I'm guilty of watching her youtube videos. She does a really good job commentating on them. I really enjoyed the American.

batkitty - 2014-03-04 4:36 PM I think her best comment about the alley was in the booth when she said, "They put up a banner, which is good, because I was worried that someone was going to get a barrel racer in their nachos." (or something similar). Even Ty laughed at that.

Lol! That's funny. When we were in the arena Sunday morning there wasn't a banner, she had a big part in getting the banner put there... Luckily the suite behind the alley was vacant, or someone might have had a heart attack!

Absolutely took it wrong.  He was said she was a 5 time NFR qualifier and just one out from making the American.  He was stating her credentials, why she was asked to be a commentator- validating her experience.

It was fun to watch someone that was confident and relaxed in front of the camera and she was!

I will say that during the NFR I may watch one or two in each event then go straight to the barrels, I may go back and watch the calf roping, But I also watched this in its entirety.  Now if it was 10 rounds I would probably Fast Forward.  Maybe they need to change the NFR to less rounds and pay more each round??  I know tradition, tradition,....... traditions drive me crazy.................
