Just curious how many days a week everyone rides? Especially if you are getting a horse ready for futurities. I have a gelding that I am hoping to futurity but it seems like I don't get to ride a ton right now :(

I ride Wednesday through Sunday usually. My horses get Monday & Tuesday off every week due to my work schedule. None of mine are futurity horses - they're all ages 10 to 21 - but I'm trying to get three of them legged up and the fourth is new so I'm getting acquainted with him and plan to pattern him on barrels this spring if things go well.

Spring through fall I ride 7 days a week weather permitting. I typically ride 8-10 horses a day unless it's raining or super windy. Each horse usually gets 4-5 rides a week depending on what they need.

5-7 days a week.  They get Monday (sometimes Tues) off if we were rodeoing all weekend.  Weather permitting of course.  If the wind is blowing and we are trying to rope....I just don't even bother.  No point in having a negative roping sesh.

I ride every other day due to my 24 on 24 off schedule. I have a 3 year old I would like to run in Dec. He has the brains and athleticism to make it on this schedule. But it took me two years to get his brother ready. It depends on the horse...

Ride??  We're supposed to ride these hay burners???  LOL!  I haven't seen rideable ground, and the big truck has been down, so long now that I am hoping I remember HOW to ride starting next week!

In normal conditions I try to get each of my competition horses ridden at least 4 times a week each.  5 times makes us all happier.

I have a full time job and a 4 year old. Riding 3, sometimes 4, days a week spring through fall is really good for me. Winter I do well to ride 2. I don't futurity and I don't train except piddling with my own horses so I don't feel like I need to kill myself to ride every day. Some days I do good just to get dinner cooked and everything fed when I get home. In a perfect world, I would ride 5-6 days a week, not have to work and still draw a paycheck, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet!

Riding?  What's that?  I thought we were just supposed to feed them and clean up after them!  This weather has NOT been good for riding.  Luckily we are supposed to be above freezing during the day for the next week!!

I'm hoping to ride as much as I possibly can over the rest of this month. Usually try to get in 4-5-6 days while legging them up and then 3 days a week when there is a barrel race during the weekend.

4-5 days a week I ride, but atleast twice of those rides are outside either trail riding or just long trotting and loping. I personally think riding 6-7 days a week is too much for their bodies. They need to atleast have a day off once a week, just like us. Mine are turned out 24/7, but are fed inside with option to go in or out all night.

my poor horses have been quite neglected in the riding category for the last year. I would go through a month where I rode every day, then they'd have a few weeks off, very irregular, maybe a trail ride here and there. My horses are 7 and 8 this year and actually needed some growing up and I'm happy they had last year with my big move to kind of get comfortable with everything. I have learned that I really don't need to feel guilty if my horses are in the pasture eating and getting fat all summer if they are happy I am too. :) don't sweat the time off unless you are barrel racing constantly haha :)

During the winter months I basically only get to ride during the weekends so I don't run mid Nov. thru beginning of March. Ride yes, run no. In years past I used to run home at lunch and get one ridden, back when my younger mare would buck my butt off if you missed more than 2 days on her and get them ridden mid week that way also.
March-November I ride 4-5 days a week, not including races. Once I get them fit if I only get 3 days in I don't panic too much, but I find the older my gelding gets (he is 13 this year) the harder he is too keep fit, fit the way I like them to be to run.

Winter: When I can due to this horrible weather...

I have started riding again this year already...

In the summer when weather cooperates I ride 5-7 days a week. If I go to a show, I give the horse the following day off.

before I started working a more then full time job I would ride almost daily.. sadley sense we have purcahsed our home and I work 50 hours a week. I have no arena, no lights, and no real place to ride but the trails and my feild.. I have ridden TWICE in the last 3 months.. Sad I know.. Im hoping I get motivated when the days get longer and the rain stops, and the ground becomes solid rather then mud again.. I can only hope. Sucks being an adult :(

When I boarded and had time to ride and was going to playdays and trail competitions I made a point to ride at least three times a week min.

5-6 days.

Winter is tough due to working full time and the time change. I set up shop lights and electrical cords in my arena when I get home from work, usually ride two, then have to put lights and cords away. Can just be time consuming and its easy to make excuses that time of year to not have to deal with it.

Spring/Summer much easier! Usually only take off Fridays for 'date night' and some Mondays if they had hard weekend rides.

Once the time changes I try to go out to the barn 3-4 times a week. Even if I don't ride, I will round pen my gelding to get him/or help keep him fit.

5 days a week. i go to a CPRA/UPRA or prca usually 3 weekends a month but i work 9-3 4 days a week and have an 8 year old daughter. We have 6 horses at our place and luckily my daughter helps me out by riding 2 a day. She's a great little helper and the only reason i am not completely burnt out.

Every d#*% day (weather permitting).  However, each horse gets exercised 6 days a week.

Ride? I haven't ridden since October 17.... We have either had rain, sleet, snow or now icy roads (no indoor and we have 3 and a half feet of snow in the fields/arena). I'll be lucky if I can start riding by the beginning of April....

We used to clear a "track" with the tractor through the snow. Right now we have all ice and its making for terrible conditions to ride in. I walked my horse around the pasture the other day and we about fell down 4 times because of the ice.

When the weather is nice I try to ride 5-6 days per week:

3-4 days a week right now. The wind in our area is usually horrible till April. When the weather clears up 5 days a week. I just bought my daughter a pony yesterday..... so I see it being daily real quick.

Riding? Is that a foreign thing? I have not rode my mare in 3 months due to the weather, but I'm taking her to a race this weekend just so I can get on her, since she's so depressed not being ridden. It's supposed to warm up and then I'll be working her in the round pen until we can fix the awful ground that is the outdoor arena. Haha

Normal times I try to ride my mare 4-5 days a week, I will be trying to work with the two year old 6 days a week as soon as it is good weather again, then the pleasure gelding gets rode about once a week right now by me, and his owner rides him once or twice a week, plus he is used for lessons since he is the safest horse on the property most days. Haha so he is in good shape right now. But the other two, not so much.

I only have two so it's easy to keep them legged up, I ride 3-4 days and show every weekend, I always give them the Sunday after shows off. I usually ride one and pony the other for about 45 mins to an hour. I rarely school on barrels unless I'm taking a lesson on my filly with my trainer which I've backed off of now since all she needs is seasoning. I exhibition her every new arena that counts as barrel work. The older horse just gets exercised to stay in shape. I do a lot of long trotting with both, breezing and Fence work, I trail ride as much as I can, working them on trails
