I appreciate the care I have recieved on base but there are some things that kind of stink, like waiting, but they do the best they can with what they have. Would rather be here then anywhere else for this. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Good news, both ovaries looked just fine, no issues. He even took photos and showed us (not that I can remember what the photos looked like now). When he did the internal ulstrasound he saw what he thought was the left ovary adhered to the uterus and something about it just didn't look right. Well, it turns out it was the colon adhered to the uterus, not the ovary, which is why it looked funny.
He detached that, removed some endo, and will biopsy it.
Bad news, the endometriosis is significantly bad. Worse then expected. He did not want to try to remove it all for fear of doing more harm with all the scarring, so he will see me in four weeks to discuss treatments/options/etc.
HUGE kudos to the OR staff in getting me cared for and home. In the past, anesthesia issues have kept me at least overnight or even several days. Not only do I get very sick and can't keep anything down, I shake so bad afterwards that I can't even breathe.
They had all the meds prepped and waiting for me when I woke up. I broke my left hand really bad years ago and they even had a heated blanket for it since it hurts really bad when it gets cold :). They were able to control the shaking within minutes and boy did that make all the difference. I think I was in recovery 2-3 hours and not once did they make me feel rushed to get out of there, even when I was the very last one to leave :)
I still can't eat, but I am drinking more. So going to keep up with that and try to eat again tonight. I'm not nearly as sore as I thought which is great, so overall, things are going really really well. Thank you again. |

Sprite is the only thing I can drink right now. I don't have any jello here at the house because it's not something we normally eat and I wasn't even thinking about getting stuff for this.
I just ate two pieces of toast, so far so good :).....
Hubby has to run up to the store later and I'll have him get some jello. |

I'll have to ask hubby to explain more on that. The surgeon came in and talked to us about it but I wasn't tracking 100 percent what he said. Hubby was pretty much taking care of everything for me :) |

Waiting on him then going to try a warm shower and move around a bit more. I want to just walk out to the barn and back at least once. I was supposed to work today, hubby was going to take me and do it for me while I directed, but I'm not sure I can handle a car ride right now. I don't have much to do. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Thank you again. Today is a much much better day. I stopped taking the percocet that they gave me. I think it was the biggest reason for the vomiting. So far so good. Ate a sandwich yesterday afternoon and just a few minutes ago and feeling ok. Even the pain isn't too bad with not taking it. I have rx ibuprofen and did take a percocet right before I went to bed.
I took a robaxin last night too and it helped tremendously. I think my shoulders and neck were so stiff and cramped that it was causing a lot of the pain.
I can never never stress enough to everybody, particularly ladies, to be so very proactive about your healthcare!!! I don't know what may or may not have happend had I listened to the first three doctors who said this all was nothing, but I'm glad I don't have to find out. And endometreosis is a lifelong condition. There is no cure for it. It never really goes away. So even one surgery doesn't "fix" it. But at least now I have a doctor who knows this and listens, and already is starting to put a plan together for long term treatments. |

They definitely are! I'm a little nervous about what else will happen. I have always knows about the endometriosis, but have always felt it was "manageable" and minor. I never really had issues with it until a year ago, and after the miscarraige it got way worse.
So finding out that it's much worse then originally thought and knowing it is a lifelong condition, coupled with the fact that if we did decide to try to have a child there would always be complications, makes me nervous. BUT, at least I'm not in the dark about it anymore and we can actually make plans and I can finally be in control again :) |

There is so much to be said for being in control of your life and being able to make plans. Usually there are enough options to make things work out okay. My prayers continue for you and your husband. Enjoy those horses, dogs, turtles and that beautiful home. Sorry you have had so much pain but you do have blessings also. |

Well....does working a five hour day count? Doctor said my first day back to work I should probably take someone with me (I work by myself doing property inspections) so I took my dog.....not sure if that's what he meant :)
I'm exhausted but it went well. I'm home resting on the couch now :) I have the next two days off for sure, then work friday, then the weekend off. But definitely a much better day!!!
