What's the best and easiest way to start the paleo lifestyle change so you don't get overwhelmed and quit? My SO and I have been discussing starting paleo and I'd like to get advice on how to start the right way. For lent, we gave up all sweets and sodas which isn't that hard yet but I'm determined to make a change!

Basically I eat eggs bacon ( the new preservative free one) and a bowl of fruit with coconut canned milk and some shredded coconut in it.
Lunch beef  zucchini  and a sweet potato
Supper maybe a bowl of fruit or hamburger patty or some pecans

Like NTO said the other day  I have cooked more while do this but It really is easy once you get the hang of it and just figure it out
One of our standards is ground beef  browned with Zucchini chopped up, kale and mushrooms  put the lid on the skillet till veggies are done
and the COCONUT Amnio Acids are fabulous!!!  Give great flavor   google Paleo Chef for some great sauces!!!

That sounds really good!  I cook a lot so that's not a problem.  I guess I'll be packing lunches and dinners to barrel races this summer!

Been eating this way for about a month and I feel tons better! Love the book Practical Paleo. Just cooked my first spaghetti squash with home canned tomatoes and ground beef tonight and it was pretty good. I try to eat lots of fruit and veggies. And I'm a huge protein person so that makes this way of eating so much easier. I also try and keep cut up veggies and hard boiled eggs in my fridge for a quick and easy snack! Also when you shop stay on the outside of the store. Processed food is in the inner aisles!

If you are new to Paleo, and are feeling hungry all the time, try eating more beef. It helps you feel full. Chicken, seafood, and other lean meats are low in fat and fat helps you to feel full. Pork is lower in protein.

If possible, try to find grass fed beef. It's better for you, but don't get caught up in perfection. Do what your budget and your sanity can afford.

The last one is my favorite because she has recipes that aren't 100% paleo for the days when you just need a treat and don't want to fall completely off the wagon. She has an instagram too that has ideas. There's also a clean eating insta account I follow for ideas. I'll see if I can find it on my feed. eating_whole <--- such yummy ideas on this insta!

I have been reading what these lovely ladies on here had been saying about paleo and last week I read up on it and started limiting my dairy and flour. I never eat processed so that wasn't a problem for me. On Sunday, I went full on paleo and by Wednesday I was down 7 pounds. I am not hungry. I don't feel like I am "missing" anything. I have always cooked every meal or cooked enough to send to work so it hasn't been hard to prep or cook for me. It is just cutting out the dairy, sugar, and flour. Everything else restricted I don't like anyways! :) I do feel better and losing some weight is great motivation. What is the saying, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?" lol.. All that said, I am hoping to alleviate my allergies and migraines. I want to be healthier for my family.

Facebook is a great place to get recipes or just google whatever you want to make and all kinds of sites will come up.

Google..  Paleo recipes for Chicken
                Paleo recipes for Beef etc.

You will then find a site that the recipes just seem to click.

I agree with SG...I decided one day I was going to do it and started the next day. It's so nice not eating sugar free and fat free crap and craving more of that crap. LOL

It's not a diet...it's a lifestyle of eating good, clean food.

I eat regular food for breakfast.  That is one thing they talk about on Paleo websites, let go of traditional thinking about breakfast. I eat leftovers a lot from dinner.

Best website for primal/paleo and how to get started. Lots of success stories and advice. "The Primal Blueprint" is probably one of the best books on primal/paleo. They put up links and thoroughly researched articles regularly.

How is everyone doing??  It's been hard to make myself get out of routine and go for it but today has been the day where I'm sick of the routine and the way we have been eating.. I'm looking for recipes to cook starting tonight bc our fridge is bare and I'm going to the grocery store!

Does anyone have a good easy recipe to start off on?

I have been Paleo almost a year and I love it. I make Paleo Nachos with sweet potato chips about once a week and it is my favorite meal. I also buy Paleo wraps from Julians Bakery and still have burritos. I have a salad daily and boiled eggs with nuts and fruit for breakfast. I also make egg muffins for meal prep. On the weekends we make paleo waffles and so far I dont feel deprived of anything. I run a lot so I do have one cheat meal during the weekend, but it doesnt have flour.

We have been on a Gluten Free diet trial (doctor ordered for S.O.) since Sunday and so far so good. If nothing else I have learned some great new recipes and we are eating very healthy.

We have tried and enjoyed :

Venison Lettuce wraps  (although I am sure you could sub in beef)
Vegetable Quiche Cups
Baked oatmeal

And some other easy things like shrimp/veggie stir fry and tonight we are grilling venison/veggie kabobs.

I got some great ideas from on the board here as well!

There are a lot of websites that explain Paleo and what the do's and don'ts are.
No sugars
No processed foods
No Legumes
No Grains

Pretty simple and pretty easy to follow. If you would just eliminate processed foods for a start you should see a difference and will lose weight.

We aren't into many "recipe" items as we like meat and veggies and that is what we eat. We either grill or bake our meat and I will say one of my favorites is baked chicken.

polorunner - 2014-04-30 8:49 PM I have been Paleo almost a year and I love it. I run a lot so I do have one cheat meal during the weekend, but it doesnt have flour.
what do you make your burritos with? I thought beans and cheese were no-no's

You are correct those are not paleo. I use grassfed beef that I spice up with garlic and cumin, more cumin the better. Put in burrito, topped with onion, green peppers, green chilis, guac and jalapenos, and I always use salsa verde for salsa.

I just discovered Peanut Butter pop tarts and Chocolate peanut butter pop tarts at the grocery store. I don't think it falls under the paleo diet or my no carb no sugar diet …

There are purest Paleo people and then there are realist Paleo people. The purest eliminate dairy and anything processed. Others introduce dairy back into their diets. If they start to gain weight they go back off of it. I don't drink milk but will have a Greek Yogurt every couple of days and will have some aged cheese every few days.
I have used some canned tomatoes here and there in a pinch. There is a huge difference between a canned veggie and other canned stuff like soup. My husband actually eats an Organic soup that has very little junk in it but I stay away from it.

For me the biggest problem was breads and sugars. After I would eat bread or pasta I would blow up like a puffer fish. For me eating Paleo is eating clean and leaving the junk on the grocery store shelves.

Thanks Kathie, so some parmesean cheese on top of dishes isn't so bad?
