| So that awesome, beautiful Triple Creek I patiently (or not so patiently) waiting 8 weeks on, isn't going to work out. It fits in the shoulders, which is where nothing else seemed to, but it pinches terribly right behind the rigging.
As much as I would love to hang on to it for horses down the road, $ becomes an issue. So, it likely goes up for sale, but I haven't decided yet for sure.
I am trying a friends Bob Marshall on him this week. I rode in today and we like the way it fits him and I liked the way it rode, although i was only in it for a few minutes since she had hauled over to ride. She's leaving town for the week though and has graciously left it for me to ride in this week.
Opinions on Bob Marshall vs the Tammy Fischer Circle Y's? A tack shop north of here has the Tammy Fischer's. how does one fit vs the other? I've sat in the Tammy Fischer at a saddle shop, but its been a while and that's all I did.
I'm thinking for this horse this will be the way to go short of a completely custom job, which isn't in the bank roll. We've had numerous treed saddles on him, Circle Y's, Billy Cooks (TX and OK), RS, Bronco Billy's, my TC, and one other off brand I can't remember. There was something we didn't like about all of them.
So - What should I be looking for in the fit on a treeless? How to the Bob Marshall's differ from the Circle Y's? In good ways or bad?
I need to be wrapping this up by the end of this week with bonus race around the corner and some travel I have to do for work that is going to cut into my riding time... |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | If the Bob Marshall fits him and you like it...that is what you should go with as there won't be any surprises. The Circle Y's have a regular fit and a wide fit. |

| I have rode both and prefer the Circle Y. I feel like I can sit up straighter in the Circle Y and not let my feet get behind me as much. I also feel like the Circle Y is more durable and not as flimsy as the BM.
If you do go with the Circle Y, make sure that you get the right size. They run a little big so ride a few sizes before you make your decision.

| I tried a BM a few years ago and didn't like it. A few years later, I got a Circle Y for a horse that I needed closer contact with. I've ridden it on different horses and liked it very well. Even had a horse fall at a barrel once, but I stayed right in the saddle. I like it. But, I am definitely not an expert.

Agree... If you can try both. Tammy is a much deeper seat and I had a hard time getting up to hustle. I went with the Jackie wide. |

| Thanks guys! The BM is no where near the right size for me, so I'm toughing it out to see how he feels in it.
There is a tack shop north of here that carries the Tammy fischer's. I'm going to see if I can take him up and test ride one later this week or next weekend. |

Location: Living in my Promised Land | I think that they are all different. I rode a BM for years and liked it. It just didn't fit my mare. I bought a wide Tammy and I did not like how it pinched my knees and it didn't fit my mare, either. She is a difficult horse to fit. For me, I liked the Bob Marshall better. You will get every opinion because we are all built so differently. |

Location: Mi | I had the same problem with my mare a year or so ago. I also bought a triple creek and although the saddle was beautiful it didn't fit my mare, even the Full Bars were to tight in her wither area. I tried several other saddles, pretty much everything but a treeless. I ended up buying a Cactus Marlene McRae Special Effx, it has a flex tree. It has fit my mare the best out of any of them, and I really like the saddle. Just another option maybe to try if you haven't already. Its frustrating....good luck!

But here's my experiences. Bob marshalls are reputable in quality for sure. And customer service. I prefer the Tammy and Jackies because I think they actually fit the horse and rider better. Tammys do sit you deeper and hold you in better. Great for alot of ppl. But if you like to get up and over your horse, you will prefer the jackie.
Yes brand new ones will pinch and rub you legs, but that won't last long at all.
I still own two treeless, one tammy and one jackie. Mostly because I have some serious spine issues and there are times they are the only saddle I can ride in.
However, because my horse is soooo hard to fit, I found myself having to make the treeless so horribly tight on him with the girth, that his sternum started getting really sore. So I kept trying the treed saddles. I have now gotten a Crates Meleta Brown that is working awesome for both of us :) |

Location: Natchitoches, La. | I have ridden in all of the above listed saddles at some point. My favorite of all of them is the circle y Just B Natural. Treeless, but looks more like treed saddle. Fits my hard to fit mare perfect and does not have to be tightened as much as my bob Marshall. Love this saddle |

| Thanks all.
Thursday I'm taking him a tack shop with good selection of saddles. Probably what I should have done in the first place but hindsight is 20/20.
Our issue is he's narrow up front, needing a 6.5-6.75" gullet, but flatter though the back. The gal at the tack shop called the reps for HR Custom saddles and they said one of the trees they have in a saddle up here is built like that. 6.75" gullet and a 13.5" bar spread.
They have everything from the HR's to Double J's and Martins to the treeless so we can try a bunch and hopefully come home with one!
Anyone wanna buy a triple creek??? May have to sell it if the dang horse only fits in a Martin, which would be my luck. |

The JJ is my favorite mainly because you don't feel as trapped as in the Tammy. The BM was too good of a deal to pass up and it fits well on a small mare I ride since its a round skirt and she is TINY! (however I find that the stirrups are too "swingy"
only complaint is my circle ys slide back a lot while Im working out in the pastures. |

| You could try a debra sibley treeless some people complain about the quality but i love the feel and you feel balanced when you are in this saddle. Also, there is a crates saddle that fits hard to,fit horses that wont breakmthe bank having old peoples disease.

| I'm shying away from the treeless idea a bit. I'm 165-170lbs. Athletic and muscular vs overweight, but 165lbs all the same. The varying reviews of weight distribution makes me nervous. Granted if we cannot find a treed saddle that will work, it is still an option on the table.
The tack shop carries Cactus and I've heard a few of their models have flatter bars, so that may be an option as well. |
