I cleaned my dogs ears tonight....same way I always do....epi-otic wiped his ears out but now about 90 minutes has passed and he is drooling like crazy. Doesn't seem to be in pain he went out to the barn to do chores he just started shaking his head and now the drool is crazy....had to put a towel under his head....seems like it's only on one side. Can't get ahold of my vet. He is 14 and my dearest friend...any suggestions?
I suggest that you wash them out with mild soap and water. Maybe on a wash rag or paper towel. Mine did this when I sprayed him with Hartz flee spray. You might wash his paws with soap and water too.
Man I'm so sorry having an emergency and not being able to get ahold of vet can be scary. It can be various things-tooth,allergic reaction, could he of got into anything wormer, bug poison, mouse/rodent poison?? If it's a simple reaction, which I don't know you could give 1mg of Benadryl per lb of body weight. Hoping vet calls you back because if he did get into something might have to go the whole charcoal vomiting route
I really hate to give advice since we don't know what really is going
On without a vets opinion which is what you are trying to Do by getting ahold of your vet. Did you use different ear cleaner?
No call back but the drooling is slowing down he just went out to pee came in got a drink and a little food hoping all are good signs! He is always licking himself! Makes me crazy. Same ear med so he shouldn't b having a reaction now but ya never know...thanks for the thoughts and ideas

Were you able to get ahold of the vet this morning? Just out of curosity but could you have dug down too deep and hit his ear drum or something? I have no idea but I hope your boy is feeling better today.
