Old timers talk about depression in this way' " I fell lower than a snake's belly in a wagon rut." That is mighty low. Ever felt this way? You are in good company. In Psalm , David talks about his despair, his depression, and is discouragement when he was separated from worshiping with the assembly of God's people.
The answer for his despair , and ours, is a passionate desire for intimacy with the Lord and with His people. In times of dryness, a child of God should be as intentional about finding fellowship with Jesus and with other Christians as a thirsty deer focused on finding water. If you hunger and thirst for Him, daily feeding on His Word and drinking from the fountain of living water, He will fill you to overflowing.
When the outlook is depressing, try the uplook. Like the psalmist, put all your hope in God. " Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him."
