Ok, the bra size post got me wondering this. How many men are actually on here? And how small of a percentage is it? I'm just curious here.

Then let me ask a question I could probably google for the answer...

Why have I never seen any guy running barrels at a major PRCA type rodeo or the NFR?  Some rule against them?   or just no men wanting to "take it to that level"...as I am certain they could if they wanted to skill wise.

A lot of the men have been banned.  Some are just censored.  I think a greater percentage of men get banned or just chased away.  Some go away or are banned and return under a different name.  Some just don't know how to speak womanese.  You have to at least be able to understand womanese, or your life expectancy on BHW will be limited. There are VERY few men on here!

Womanese is pretty simple.  Multiply the emotion but discount logic and reason.

I think that its how differant we think. Men are very basic in their though process and you girls let your emotions get  in the way. You girls just let too many things bother you where us men let it go and we go onto another subject. And like I their are men on here that just lurk. I come hear so I can understand my daughters reasoning when it comes to their horses.

BWHAHA I haven't seen it in YEARS Fun fact, the first time I saw it (in the theater), I got a migraine and puked all over the lobby. I was in 7th grade I think.

Awesome story!!!

I know right

those folks who worked at the theater were super mad at me... I felt sorta bad. I was super embarrassed.... poor little 12 yo Ali.

Having worked in a mens world before women were welcomed (racetrack T/B's) It's easy to speak to men, if you take out these words when beginning a debate or conversation with them.

1.) "I feel". Men at all cost avoid this opening statement as valid to anything pertinent to most conversations.
2.) "IMHO", If they wanted to hear it, they would have asked for it.
3.) "Personally speaking".  Men don't like anything personal unless it's taking place in the bedroom.
4.)"If you were a woman you would understand". This will turn off a man listening ears quicker than a love song.
5.) "You don't get me".  They know that quit reminding them of it.

I could go on forever.

Dealing with men should always start with valadating their position on anything,  then going ahead with what you were going to do in the first place without explaining yourself.

AND in closing...... I have yet to see anyone change their position on important matters here on BHW.  Same battle crys and the results are always the same.  Thrilled everyone loves rum.

Not, 100% sure. Zapped and/or doesn't come around anymore. RWR frequents the Fallout Shelter, thankfully.

This made me think of something....someone should start a "poll" asking if BHW would be a better place if it was a "women's only" board.  Serious question.....would most women prefer it that way?  Maybe it would.  It's an interesting, honest question.  My guess is it would be a pretty close poll if everyone voted, but that's pure conjecture on my part.

Kudo's after 65 years a women that gets it THANK YOU!!!!

sorrel horse ranch - 2014-03-10 1:12 PM I still miss Sheepdog and he really didn't like me.  Kind of like RWR.
Sheepdog, RQH, RWR, Zebra, DD2012, etc.....  all good guys and fun to have around.  I had a lot of respect for them.
Ewww! That made me cringe! I see some names there i certainly don't miss! Well, I should say I don't miss their random rude comments... BHW is a much better place without them, I think.

Oh, he!! No! I'll never do that again. Although there were some good arguments (polite arguments) on both sides. Definitely should not exclude men.... The REAL ones. Like you, whiteboy, jbhoot... can't think of the others right now. All capable of putting your opinion out there without launching into a personal attack. It wasn't even the personal attacks that bothered me about some of those so-called men, it was the way they seemed to make assumptions about the character of people they just plain didn't like. I come here for the great information, and I know many people didn't post because if they weren't well liked, some rude comment was forthcoming. Seems like now, everyone can disagree about one topic and still agree with the same person about something else without being stalked from post to post.

The "personal attacks" are actually very useful, provided you are determined not to take them personally and consider the source.  Sometimes if you are winning an argument or at least making a very good case, one indicator is when an opponent accuses you of making a personal attack, when you haven't.  Another, obviously, is when someone just comes out and makes a personal attack or accusation, rather than debate the issue.  When that starts to happen, then the debate is dead.

I never thought of it that way.
I guess it was more the random accusations that got everything off topic and killed what otherwise might have been an interesting, informative debate.
I know what you mean, when someone takes a comment out of context, when it probably wasn't meant that way. It's not the same as the behavior I remembered seeing before. I guess it was just one person who was pretending to be different people.

Here's the problem with some of the men on here:  they will poop in the sandbox, then run off and laugh maniacally. And then they do drive-bys making fart noises just to rile us up some more because the madder we get the harder they laugh.

The same can be said of some women on here. I do think that there are some on here that have thin skins. For most part I enjoy this board you can get an opinion on just about anything. You may not like it but you will get an opinion on it LOL

This is true, however at times I have found women on this forum (not pointing names at anyone but just an overall impression) to be not that civil either. We have driven off more people then they have. And I just chuckle at their attempts to get people rattled at times, they sure do know how to push our buttons...

Maybe it was just because I was raised around mostly men and I just shrug it all off now. I can come across as blunt and rude/uncivil at times, I try and hide it on BHW but by golly around my house I am the one that is the worst for it.

I miss Txdad too and I miss the updates on the restaurant and family.

You probably weren't aware of his affection for wearing ladies undergarments.

HotbearLVR - 2014-03-10 6:33 PM I didn't know that TxDad is gone.  Who says?  I thought I read one of his posts not that long ago.  In fact, I think he said something to the effect that men shouldn't be in barrel racing!  Ha Ha Ha!!!  I'm pretty sure he said something like that.

I never see him or his wife on the boards any more. I was just wondering where he went? I'm assuming DD2012 or RWR or whatever he was going by last got zapped........again.

Douglas J Gordon - 2014-03-10 4:50 PM I don't speak womanese very well and misunderstood frequently by women, But I had testicle cancer about 23 years ago so i am only 1/2 a man.  Dang for that I should be able to understand them better.
That explains it, Doug.  You don't have enough balls......hehehehehe!
When a woman says she has Hot Flashes, now I can understand that when withdrawing from Androgel.!  Hot flashes for the last 4 nights!

Three 4 Luck - 2014-03-10 5:53 PM  Here's the problem with some of the men on here:  they will poop in the sandbox, then run off and laugh maniacally. And then they do drive-bys making fart noises just to rile us up some more because the madder we get the harder they laugh.

That's a problem?  Just locker room survival 101.

You aint a kidding there buddy.  Got tickets for a Cubs game in June already.  Wrigley has been on my bucket list.  I figure a sizzling rare filet at Ruth's Chris will be in order as well.  I will probably be down in Texas often enough over the next year that you and I are going to take in a Ranger's game too.  March is always such a painfully slow month.

Im going to Yankee game and Angel game first week of April. Daughter is skipping class at OK State to see the games with me.  Lol!  I'm not sure if I should be applauded or chastised for my parenting.

And Loveheart, dont forget Loveheart was another that RWR went by for a tiny while.
Nope. LOVEHEART was RWR's hilarious son! He was little RWR! No one made me laugh more than that guy.

Yeaaa sure it was his son,,,

It was lol. His son is just as cool, but a little more sarcastic. We all thought it was RWR, but it wasn't lol. He comes on Fallout Shelter every once in a while now. I wish he did more because he always makes me laugh.

It's all in how you

Ruth's Chris is pretty good. You best hit up the original Cheesecake Factory and get a Lou Malnatais deep dish pizza while you are here.
McCormick and Shmicks is also great. Daily menus are printed there.

I did say at least. My memory is faulty.  Of course, if you use the definition of what is a man I've seen on FB lately, that might weed out a few roaches:  Ladies, if your man doesn't hunt and fish or is scared of guns, you have a girlfriend.

I'm going to circle back and touch base with you on this in June, Alison.
I've eaten at a lot of very good steak houses across the country over the years.  Some were great, and others were disappointing.  Part of it depends on how you like your steak prepared.  For example, in Minneapolis, Manny's is considered by many to be the best, but I wasn't crazy for it.  The steak was overly char-broiled on the outside and I don't like that if it's excessive.  I ordered my steak rare, and it came to me closer to medium.  Nothing brings tears to my eye more than a steak that has been abused.
What I like about Ruth's Chris is that it is always the same no matter where you are.  You know what you are getting.  If I go out to eat the best steak around, I don't want there to be any guess work.  If I order a filet at Ruth's Chris it is so tender that a knife is really an unessential utensil.  You get the same tender steak, sizzling on a hot buttery platter, from Boston to San Juan to San Francisco.  Same for the side dishes.  Unless you have a gluten allergy, the whiskey bread pudding will punctuate an evening full of fond gustatory memories, and you can cap the evening off with a fine cigar and conac....a rare find in many top end restaurants these days.
If we are in Chicago for two nights, I like to go with a sure thing like Ruth Chris, and for the second night, try a wild card....like the most highly recommended Italian restaurants.

I tend to shy away from chains if possible, but they are quite good at ruths Chris

There soooo many choices in Chicago. I'm not up on all the latest fads but I can ask around.

Be sure you get a deep dish pizza somewhere decent. UNOs is also good, but make sure you hit up the original. The chains suck!

All those options sound good but when I leave the ballpark, I don't need anymore food.  I don't normally eat junk food but when I get to the park, I lose all discipline.  I usually spend more money on hotdogs that I did the tickets.  I love stadium food.

If your going to Chicago to watch baseball, there are two spots you have to hit.

1) Cape Cod Room at the Drake.  The bisque is awesome and oysters are huge.  The bar is a piece of history with many old signatures including Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe.

2) Carson's Ribs.  Ribs are good but the patte is awesome as well as all the sides.  This as well as his sister restaurant Don & Charlies in Scottsdale were favorites of Harry Carey.  Lots of baseball memorabilia.

There are a lot people that I don't see on here anymore, wether they were guys or gals. I didn't always agree with what they said, but it would make you stop and think. Sometimes they made the threads really take off. This is what makes this place.

Yup I miss a lot of them too. It's not like it used to be around here.

We need some Cat pics so Komet comes out of the woodwork.

She's thinking Oscar Meyer liverwurst.  You and I are thinking Pate'.  Forgive her. We can teach her if she wants to learn, and I am optimistic she has potential.  I know this isn't pate', but this has conjured up fond memories of good foie gras.  I haven't had any for so long.  There's nothing quite like it.

Excellent suggestions, professor!  This makes me think an extra day in Chitown might me a worthwhile investment.
I'm with you on ballpark food.  Hot dogs and brats.  For some reason they always taste better at the ballpark.  You can't duplicate the flavor and appeal at home.  It has to be at the ballpark. Ahhh, I can smell it already.  Combine that with the sight of the flag in center field and the manicured grass, as well as the sound of a jet passing overhead, the leather popping, the crack of the bat, and the roar of the crowd.

It does smell gross, especially when it's being made. Looks worse then dog food then too! My father likes to make it from scratch. As a kid when you saw the ingredients it meant either spend the weekend at a friends or lock yourself in your room with the windows open so you don't smell it. That and head cheese... I hated seeing the poor pigs heads on my counter.... and it didn't smell great or taste great either. IMO

I had pate once with a gourmet meal served on the beach in Mexico. The lobster bisque was divine, and so was the shrimp. I was drunk by the time we got to dessert, so I don't remember if it was good or not. But the pate...I took one bite and sent it back to the kitchen in return for a green salad. Blech. Fried SPAM is better than that stuff! I would put it on the same level as chitlins...

LOL Menanese:

Address something just simple toward them "Hey Men.." then either insult or discuss a sports team or type of sport, say girls are smarter, or discuss food. Draws the men out every time.

The Golden rule still applys "A way to a mans heart is through their bellies" They brought the food up in this thread. ..

To the OP, there used to be quite a few more on here. There are some but 90% of this forum is women.

EDITED: To change thread to forum* I am not trying to call you men girls or anything

ndiehl - 2014-03-11 10:47 AM LOL! IMO
OMG!  I love Hog's Head Cheese.
Now, I know where to get some really good Hog Heads Cheese.....
Do tell.
Kelone's in Cottonport, LA......the best.
Thanks.  It had to be from LA to be credible.
Want me to mail you some??? :)

Thanks a million but I'm stocked up right now.  Woody's Smokehouse just brought in a load from LA and I loaded up.

Astute observation, for the most part, with a couple modifications or caveats.  We generally don't often react to remarks about women being smarter. We love women and want them to feel good about themselves.
It is unwise to contest any assertions that women are more intelligent.  It's always a good idea to develop an ability to resist that natural tendency to belly laugh at certain comments eminating from the fairer sex.  That is best saved for evenings when gathering around the square table.

OMG, yes... a second vote for Carson's.

RIBS... so good.

And if you do wish to do a day trip, the museum campus is pretty cool. The Shedd Aquarium is neat, the Field Museum is also awesome.

Don't go to Navy Pier, and for the love of pete don't put ketchup on that hot dog

Wrigley has a fun nightlife. There are some bars open until 5 AM but they typically are full of bad decisions and way to many people.

If you are interested in anything in particular, I can give you the 411

Godiva Chocolates? I usually buy them for my women but seldom eat them myself. I get more bang for the buck if I reserve their utility for manly pursuits. Now Garret's popcorn has me intrigued. Never heard of that.

One year I landed a sweet deal as the "stadium doctor" for old County Stadium in Milwaukee. No, not the team doctor. I had to be available to go to the first aid station if a doc was needed. I think I went to about 50 home games that year. The worst thing I saw was a laceration on a guy's head from getting hit by a thrown beer bottle. For that I landed 2 box seats right behind home plate, about 6 rows from the field. I know what a Goose Gossage fastball sounds like....that's how close I was. Excuse me for a minute.....I am getting teary eyed.....

I'm not sure who would scare me worse......Gibson or Nolan Ryan. Both were masterful at intimidation. I think Ryan plunked more hitters, but Gibson didn't hesitate to throw at a hitter. I was playing amateur ball back in the 90's and was hit square in the ribs by a 90+ mph fastball. Broke THREE ribs.

And Loveheart, dont forget Loveheart was another that RWR went by for a tiny while.

FYI,  that is incorrect.

FTR, I miss a lot of the guys and keep up with them elsewhere.  I have always had more men friends than women friends and I too work in a man's world.  I like it that way. They may have hired me because they needed a token female, but last month, I out worked the boys..........

There is also a book by Jason Claiborne, "How to Speak Womanese"

How to Speak Womanese is intended to guide men through the emotional complexity of a woman's world. This book provides playful distinctions that will promote uncommon conversations and openings for what's possible in the untamed territory of woman to man communication. Women and men alike have had very poor conditioning and modeling for creating and maintaining effective communication, which has led to many unfortunate cases of Connectile Dysfunction®. Based on the daily influx of media, it appears that modern society is more interested in the drama of unsuccessful relationships than the harmony of successful relationships. What are you looking for---drama or harmony? Wouldn't it be nice if the communication between the sexes was simple, playful, and fun again? Surely that's a YES that just popped into your head, so what are you waiting for? Let's begin your training in How to Speak Womanese®.

CurlyQ - 2014-03-11 6:58 PM  I look on trip advisor for hotels and restaurants when we travel. That way we avoid the chains and have had some great meals after others have given their opinions, lol

as far as men..... Love em! ( most. :)
Generally, I agree with you but you can miss some great regional cuisine.  One example is the Pappas restuarants in TX.  You won't find a better steak in Houston or Dallas than Pappa's Steakhouse.
I couldn't agree more TXBO!  I have to stop there every time I go to the doctor in Houston.  Absolutely the best steak I think I have ever had.  And the potatoes and asparagus are out of this world too.  Then the creme brule comes next.  I am so hungry now.

The three best steaks I've had in Texas:

1) Pappa's Steakhouse  Houston
2) Bob's Chophouse  Dallas
3) Three Forks  Dallas

Sorrel, you ever do Pappadeaux?  I love that place.

kmcsunshine - 2014-03-12 6:01 PM Heard a joke on the radio this morning.

What's the difference between a woman yapping on the front porch and a dog yapping on the back porch?

If you let the dog in, it'll shut up................
