There has got to be one kid somewhere that wants a job........blasted lol.
I did get some inmates once a few years back and they had pants that were around their knees. I had them dig a few fence posts. They were all out of breath and tripping over their pants......and didn't dig many holes lol. They did not impress me. |

| The children that want to work are usually in the service of their parents. Hard to get them away from that! The others think work is getting up to get a soda when their fingers get tired of playing vido games. |

I do come with some baggage though. A couple trusted 4 legged critters, and a boyfriend (who also hates the cold). He's handy too, a plumber and pipe fitter and can fix just about anything mechanical... he has too because he usually breaks it. I am good at book work as well, can do accounting, marketing and just about anything business related. We just want somewhere warm now... lol |

| I think if you want a good worker you've got to raise them yourself! My little guy helps haul water, clean stalls (has his own wheelbarrow and stall fork), and has his own tractor. He also exercises horses, helps feed, scrub waterers, etc. And when the work outside is done, he also helps with dishes, laundry, vacuum, dusting, etc. Too bad he has to go to pre-school next year!
Edited to add - You might have to raise a couple to get a good worker. Our oldest doesn't seem to care too much about helping outside!

Thanks! He works harder than most of the day workers we hire. I can't wait until he's really big enough to do stuff, I'd much rather pay him and know that the job will get done! |

Ha! It's kind of like horses that are full siblings, some have a great work ethic, others not so much! Our oldest (6 yrs) would rather sit in the house and read, draw, and learn (he recently asked if he could learn another language!). I'm not complaining, they are just different. But I know better than to expect him to come outside and work voluntarily! |

| I took on a kid at about 11 years old. He stayed with the job till he was almost out of vet school. He's been practicing for about a year and a half now. I really miss him. By the time he was 14, he could anything, and everything on the farm. He had a couple of buddies he could call for getting up hay, and construction projects. He was worth his weight in gold. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | This is kinda off topic, but hear me out (or read me out).....
I was browsing Craigslist the other day and saw and ad that was for leasing out a horse. It said something to the effect of, trying to get my horse legged up. She needs lots of slow work, long trail rides, building up to lots of long trotting and sprints. They would like to lease said mare out for $200 a month, and would like her to be ridden 3 days a week, minimum.
Then I saw another ad, someone offering their riding services. Looking for horses who need legged up or exercized on a regular basis. Available 3-5 days a week. $10-15 an hour depending on the the horse and what they needed.
I found it comical that someone wants someone to lease their horse to someone who will get it it shape. And another that wants to be paid to do it. Oh the Irony. |
