my dad called last night and said my mare didn't eat or drink yesterday. where I have her is icy and I thought it may be just that she was too worried about the ice to get to her feed, told him move it to a different location. she ate hay last night, loaded her up to go to an indoor to ride. got there got saddled(cinch was not tight, just enough to touch her belly) and she laid down in the isle. I got her up, got saddle off. vet came out gave her 10cc of banamine. she has no fever, has gut sounds and has pooped 2x today. I haven't seen her pee and she has no appetite, hasn't eaten today. she drank some right after she laid down in the isle and hasn't drank since. I gave her a flake of hay that she wont eat. Per vet no grain which is something I wouldn't give her now anyway but im worried that she isn't eating. would a little bit of soaked beat pulp be a bad idea? was thinking it might wet her appetite and give her a little more fluid? or should I just wait her out.

nope no temp. she is perkier than before and not laying down just wont eat or drink. not sure if its the weather we are having? our temps are going up and down a lot. like - temps to 40's over a few days. not sure if going off the feed was from not feeling well or if she doesn't feel well cuz she didn't eat or drink good for a 1-1.5 days.

Will she graze on grass. Sometimes when I have had one go off feed I will hand graze them to see if they will eat the grass. Many times that little bi of grass will spark their appetitie

thanks for the advice. she has started to munch on her hay some and drank some of her water. I have always been very lucky and not had problems with colic or colic like symptoms in all the years I have had horses
