This time of year is always a little hard for me. In 2010 I lost my main guy Issac. He was the horse that made barrel racing fun. He made me want to go as hard and far as he could take me. Today is his 29th birthday and May 1st is the day I lost him. I don't think I will ever feel about another horse as I did him. He got me thru my rough teenage years and was my friend when "my parents didn't understand me". I don't think it has gotten any easier...days like this seem harder than the day I had to have him put down after fighting colic for 24 hours...it was easier then because I needed him not to be in pain anymore. He didn't deserve to feel like that. Feeling gushy today. Thanks for reading

Hugs...my first horse's birthday is coming up this month (March is a hard month for me too, sometimes I'd just like to skip it). She would have been 30 this year. I understand how you feel. Many hugs.
