I really thought the bigger ones were probably a "little" big. But I think you have to look at the whole thing like the high profile barrel racers were doing this to help raise money for K9 4 Cops. To thank Kristie for doing this for all involved. So one of the high profile barrel racers is a man and a rather tall man so I would think that is why some of the ponies were a little taller. I think it was obvious that the crowd was loving the smaller ponies though. It was so much fun to watch.

There was some controversy in the pony race amongst the pony riders against those who push the boundary on the height limit. They were supposed to be under 13.2. It was good natured fun, but they took it really, really seriously. LOL

Yes I agree there were some that were little horses, rather than ponies...and in the future they may have to be a little stricter on the defination of pony...but it is all for a great cause, and kuddos to all those involved.

Our ponies growing up had to be 52" or under. Every year at the state show i'd have to pull my pony's shoes to lead him through the measuring stock. Love me a good pony!
