My personal definition of a horse with 'heart' is one that will work almost as well with some issues (say healing abscess or other slight lameness issue) as when they are 100%. A horse who always wants to work and compete.

I think you know when your horse has a lot of heart is when they have a lot of try. Because it seems like Try, and heart go together. Especially if their willing enough to learn new things and it's always a plus if their a quick learner
