Location: Small Town Iowa | Quick question, I am looking for a good step up but from the O-ring combo bit. I'm looking for something to keep my bendy horse stiff, help keep her shoulder up but I need something with a little more whoa than the O-ring combo gives me. I was just wondering what you guys had as suggestions that have a little more experience than I do. Thanks |

| I personally like my 5 bit. The trainer can ride my horse in a O Ring but i need just a tad bit more leverage and the twisted 5 gives it to me!
http://lwbits.com/Lift-Bits.html it is the "Five bit" listed for 40.00 about half way down the page

Location: Fort Collins, CO | i went to a tender touch on my mare after the smooth o-ring. still very light and gentle but gives me a little flex and i put a leather curb on it for some whoa. right now my curb is VERY loose, might have to tighten it one hole.
I love it--my friend has always had good results with it so i tried it. Also an Ed wright short shank smooth mouth with dogbone would be a good next step as well.
if your o-ring is smooth, stay smooth. i don't want to go to a twisted mouth unless i have to. |

I'll look into that one as well. I have a tender touch that I use on my other mare, I really never though about trying that one on Pepsi too. I currently am using a twisted wire O-ring combo bit with a nose band because she has this habit of tipping her nose out and the noseband seems to keep her nose tucked in. So I guess I can always get a noseband to put on any bit that works with her. I just don't want to move up to anything too harsh if I don't have too. But this year she has figured out that running is ok and I would just like something with a little whoa added to it. Thanks for your advice. |

Location: Small Town Iowa | I rode today, and used the tender touch on my mare. It worked ok because she was tipping her nose straight out. She's been checked and is sound as a stone. Put her O-ring combo on and that solved the nose tipping. The Hodges futurity is more what I'm looking for, I just didn't know it until this thread because it is so similar to the L&W 346 that I am using now. Now just to see where I can get the best deal. Thanks everyone for your advice and input. I really do appreciate it.
