| Can you post some pictures of your horse's back from different angles? And what saddles have you tried on him - what did you like about the fit and what did you dislike? There is a wealth of saddle information here and folks may be able to give you some guidance on what brands may or may not work.
Sherry Cervi shims her Martin Crown C; She has a video out there explaining it that is pretty good. The Crown C's are meant to fit the widest part of the horse's back and be shimmed to fit the rest. Does this mean that muscle will fill in eventually? Maybe, if the horse has atrophy in the muscle and he's worked properly to build that muscle. The Martin saddles and the theory doesn't work for all horses. Happens to work for mine though and it fits him like a glove. Right now we are in a 7" gullet - I think this horse could take an 8" eventually, but probably not anything bigger than that, as he's more narrow overall.

I know a few folks on here have said that Martin has a good trial program; but I think you also need to really understand how to fit their saddles if you don't have someone knowledgable helping you. |
