The same is true of the Thomas and Mack. If you had the perfect arena and ground for every event you would have to have them all in different arenas and that's not cost effective at all. JMO.

I thought of this too - the T & M isn't a great pen for barrel racers.

The people who put rodeo on are not interested in making ground safe, been the same way for years. If you say some thing you get the remark that its been this way for years and if you dont like it dont go. I dont like that attitude and i am interested in keeping my horse sound and running on bad ground is something i dont want to do. But there are people who will let them have at it.

The Reno Rodeo arena isnt the best arena to run in either. The ground is so hard for barrel racers but they will bring out the tractor to groom the dirt for the bull riders.

i also noticed that the barrels have the same blue and white "rodeo houston" emblem on them as whats on the perimeter of the arena. I've had trouble seeing the barrels at certain angles, i imagine the horses do too

I thought the same thing when I went there. I really wish they would realize that barrel racers bring in more than just (1/8th?) of the spectators because every little girl that is there isnt there for team roping. IMHO barrel racing and bull riding are the 2 things that bring in the most spectators so they should take care of them. Not saying they shouldnt worry about the others, I watch all events and love them all, but they could take a little more time on the ground for the barrel racers and not act so much like there just added entertainment bc women have to be envolved.

I guess that's why they've created NBHA's BBR's and other events to create the best possible ground and performance. I thought that is what made the rodeo horses the exception, that they can handle patterns like those?
