Perspective has an impact on outcome. There have been a lot of people who treasured a part of life that looked much different from another perspective. Beauty is not so important when word comes of illness or loss. The joy of riches tend to fade as our remaining years grow fewer in number.
How do we ensure that life gets better and not bitter as our days advance? The key to a better life is in our perspective. When we treasure the things of earth, we see them slipping away as life moves on. The bitter miser once had an outlook of promise as treasure accumulated. When the reality of leaving this earth came into view, that optimism changed and life grew bitter. To become better instead of bitter, our treasure must be above. When our treasure is laid up on heaven, we go to our reward. We are not leaving it! Keep life and its treasure in perspective. It will make a difference both now and forever.
Beauty and Riches also die.
Psalm 49:10-20 For he sees wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, and leave their wealth to others. Their inner thought is that their house will last forever, their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names. nevertheless man, though in honor. does not remain; he is like the beasts that perish. This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve their sayings. Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; they upright shall have dominion over them in the morning and their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling. But God will redeem my soul form the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, Is like the beasts that perish.

Thanks. Very thought provoking. I was raised by parents who worship money and things. In their eyes my sister and I are total failures because we don't live in the "right" houses or drive the "right" cars and so on. My older Dodge diesel really insults them when it is parked in front of their house in the exclusive neighborhood! My Mother has become so obsessed with her stuff that she freaks out if somebody asks to use something, even a cheap plastic bowl, even if it is for her benefit. They are owned by their possessions. Unfortunately, nobody in our family wants to spend time with them. They are in their 80's and seem to getting worse and worse about it. Sad!
