I have seen on many Facebook groups, pregnancy apps etc what the normal weight gain is during pregnancy. But I have more then surpassed their 10-18lbs they suggest, I am closer to 25lbs gained.
It is making me feel terrible. I am wondering what everyone else gained during their pregnancies and if there is someting I should be doing to stop gaining so much weight as I still have over 7 weeks to go! I am not over eating ( I don't think). I haven't been able to ride since around 18 weeks so I know that doesn't help. I work all day and find it hard to get out for walks or exericse but perhaps I need to start doing so before I am even more huge!
I saw my Dr. this week and she didn't say anything about me gaining too much but I didn't ask either. I didn't realize I had actually gained more then I am supposed to until I started looking into it the last few days.
Did anyone else gain a bunch of weight too?
I have also saw ladies that say that have lost a bunch of weight but that can't be good either I wouldn't think?!

I havent been pregnant but I thought average weight gain was between 20 and 40 lbs. I could be wrong though.

I thought so also BUT apparently it depends how big you were before you were pregnant how much weight you are supposed to gain! I weighed 150 and I am 5'4". And I guess I was over weight pre-pregnancy!
I wasn't tiny by any means but I didn't realize I was classified as over weight. So I guess that doesn't help with these pregnancy weight calculators!

You are at the point now where you do not need to be worrying about your weight.  Steady weight gain of 1/2 to 1lb per week for the next 7 weeks is healthy.  Your baby is starting to put on it's own weight now.

25-35lbs is normal  I gained 30-35 with both of mine and ended up 10lbs under my pre-pregnancy weight before they were a year old.

Weight gain depends on lots different variables. As long as your doctor isn't concerned and you are eating healthy you can't compare yourself to others. I do suggest breastfeeding. Not only is it beneficial to your baby it jump starts your metabolism and will make loosing weight easier. ..

I gained almost 50lbs with my pregnancy, my mom did also when she was pregnant with me. Not sure if there is a chance it is hereditary or not??? 1 week after delivery I was down to 120lbs from almost 155lbs..... I would not worry at all! Everyone is different....

Well I gained 80lbs... I went from 128lbs 5'5" to 207.... I feel horrible about it but my mom tells me she always gained a similar amount and within 6 months was back at preprgnancy weight, so I hope I fallow in her foot steps. Though I wouldn't mind to keep some of the weight since I was a little on the thin side in my opinion. I switched jobs at 20wks. I went from being on my feet most the day to a desk job. On top of that the hrs had me getting off too late to ride during the week. I didnt really eat more than normal, but already had a very very healthy appetite hahaha.

I will say by the end I was really mad at myself for not making more of an effort to work out. Not just for the weight gain but because I think it hurt me towards comfor level the last couple months, labor, and recovering afterwards. My baby is 3wks old but I hope to get back active as soon as possible and get back t normal. Good luck. But don't try n stop eating too much, you want a healthy baby, but I do recommend trying ur best to get some exercise in.

Oh they say they want you to gain 20...good luck with that. I am a very petite person and stayed super active with both my pregnancies and I gained 40# with the first and nearly 60 with the 2nd. I lost it all within 6 months though. A lot was water weight at the end. I looked like a blow fish. My feet and hands swelled so bad they hurt. I didn't have preclampsia either. I did breast feed and I think that helps you drop the weight after. Don't stress about it, your body will never be the same after no matter what...and to me it was totally worth it after having my babies.

This is me right now. Im 36 weeks and swelling like crazy.... I think I've gained about 30lbs, but Im not really sure because I haven't been paying much attention to that. I've been really lucky with a super easy pregnancy, but Im definitely at the point where I just want to calve and get it over with so I can wear normal shoes again! Even flip flops leave an indent on my feet because they're so swollen!

To the OP: STOP worrying about your weight. If you're gaining to much your doc will let you know. You have one job right now and that is to make a healthy baby, and you can worry about the weight afterwards!

I'm currently pregnant with twins and on bed rest.  I was scared to see what kind of weight I would put on not being able to do anything, but I think I probably haven't gained as much as I would have if I was still working. I have less than 8 weeks to go (unless they decide on their own to come even earlier) and have gained aroun 35lbs.

Like someone else mentioned.  Breast feeding is the healthiest thing you can do for yourself and your babies, but you have to do it right.  Drink lots of water and keep in mind that the babies are basically eating what you eat so you have to keep it healthy with your calories.  I nursed both of my girls and will be nursing my twins as well.

yes what she said. I was so swollen that when I was in labor, the Dr grabbed my calf muscle and her hand print stayed for a long long time. It escapes my memory, but I think it was still there 30 mintues later. They were really watching my blood pressure because the swelling is a sign of preclampsia, but it stayed normal. I am 5'2" and normally 115 or so. My Dr's never said a word about my weight...they did say  if it bothered me to stay away from food with carbs. I of course had cravings for pasta and bread the whole time.

I gained 50lbs with both of my pregnancies. My doctor never said anything about me gaining too much, but did say that I was probably going to gain more than average. Maybe he was just trying to make me feel good about myself! I lost the weight faster with my first than the my second, but that was entirely because of my eating habits. Changed that and now I weigh what I did when I got married.

Unless your doctor specifically says something about your weight gain, I would not be concerned. Every woman and every pregnancy are different, so it's not fair to compare to others. Your body is raising a baby, so just keep eating healthy and let it do its job!

That's one way that I can say bed rest has definitely been a blessing.  Working from home and being able to keep my feet up keeps me feeling better with these babies in my belly.  My blood pressure has stayed low and I'm not swelling yet.  I'm allowed to go to dinner occassionally and just those outings cause my feet and hands to start swelling....and I'm exhausted when we get home, lol  I've been on bed rest for the past 9 weeks so my endurance doesn't get me to far past being able to walk from the bedroom to the kitchen before I start feeling my belly getting tight.
