Have any of you fellow barrel racers used Oxy Zen? Can you let me know your opinions, please. I need a little less aggression getting into the pen. Your input is appreciated.
Zen is something that I never allow myself to be without. I really like it for the horses who get a bit too "in their heads". I have a gelding who will get very anxious behind the alley. He is stoic and walks calmly up the alley, but shakes the whole time. When he's like that, he just gets more and more tense and stronger and stronger to the first barrel. He runs on the Zen and is so much more relaxed before running and is inhaling his first barrel again. For the ones who are nervous and a bit too chargey, I like to use both the Zen and the Calm, in conjunction. Zen just seems to give them focus and relieve some anxiety. The Calm will actually calm one a bit physically, as well as mentally, but without dulling them, or taking away any run. I give all of my pre-race 2 hours out and have had great results.
