Ok, I'm posting for my friend and my friends horse is SUPER picky. He likes the snaffle bit and is very broke he's 18yrs old and had been used for 4-H, English and trail work. And so far he's coming along really nice on the barrels and barrel exercises and drills. He does fine in the snaffle bit at a walk and trot but once he hits that canter he tries pushing on her and pulling and she's tried stopping him immediately (He's got a rockin stop) then back him up then go the other way but still he pushes. Also in her runs he likes to run but doesn't want to actually turn smoothly cause he still pulling on the bit. What other bits would you suggest to try? I was thinking of letting him try my ring gag bit or my jr.cow horse

She needs to learn to rate him at speed (without barrels) in an arena with same bit.
Or perhaps a medium twisted wire bit.  Put him in a canter after a proper warm up, and then speed him up and slow him down.  Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.
