Location: Georgia | I've been waiting years for this one! Mare was maiden and did a fantastic job. Everything so far has been very textbook which is a godsend because I have no idea what I am doing. Just wanted to share some pictures of this pretty little girl!

Yes, from what I understand its a gene that causes roaning along the flanks and they typically will have a skunk, or coon tail. My mare has a very slight amount of roaning around her flanks so im assuming she is the culprit.

Location: Georgia | Thank you guys! Mare is a little cowbred APHA mare. Nothing of real importance on her papers but she has been a superb barrel horse for me for the last 7 years. Here are some updated pictures from a little pasture time this afternoon.

It is a dominant gene that causes roaning on the flanks and gives them a skunk, or coon tail. Its just a color pattern of roaning really. |
