Sorry if this has been asked recently... I am having my horse's knees injected tomorrow. He is 20 and has spurs in the upper joint. Vet said he is injecting upper joint only. Not sure what with yet...assuming HA and maybe anti-inflammatory. Anyway, how long should he have off afterwards? Do you bring them back slow once you ride again? Not sure what to expect... TIA
Thanks for the info. I'm interested to see what he recommends. Last fall a different vet wanted to inject all joints with HA only. I didn't do it at the time, but did start him on polyglycan and noticed a huge difference.
Really hoping this makes him even more comfortable. He doesn't seem ready to quit but I don't want him to run in pain.
Cortisone will reduce inflammation immediately, but it also eats away at the cartilage. For a steroid, trimethsinalone is the only one proven to actually encourage cartilage re growth. I would ask you vet to max out on this steroid.
