Unforseen circumstances for our farm have left me with limited funds for our brood mares this year. Most were planned ahead and have frozen semen ready for them but I have one that I do not want to leave open, that was to be live covered but unfortunatly he has passed. I cant spend much on her this year as I would like to, I would like to stay around $600 or less. I am hoping everyone can give me suggestions... not for sure what is out there that people might recommend like a "under dog," or a "up in coming." I came across a stallion named Lucks Phantom Bug, but I am not familar with him or his disposition and if those qualities are passed on to his foals. My mare is by Nonstop Tom out of a Cashtaking, To Market mare. I would appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

WOW ...>> using frozen semen is expensive .....

If you are interested in adding speed and turn .. take a look at this guy and contact owner for good mare considerations ... he looks just like his daddy and has a fantastic bottom side .. his dam ran out $880,000 etc etc ...

Might try bedonna.com

She doesn't have prices listed that I can find but in the past she has always been very very reasonable in her stallion fees.

Frenchman's Bogie out of Oklahoma.  We bred to him two years ago. Price was $500.  Future Fortunes stallion. Beautiful buckskin. I know of four around here.  One is 1d, the others are all young but great dispositions.

I liked this one, but it seems he has gone up a little since I looked, so he is $750:

I also like Tailgunner Tom, but I like most Corona Cartel sons. He was pretty inexpensive.

If you pay $500 then have to pay for shipping etc. it will still run you about 800-900. Guys Easy Jet is about $900 and includes the first shipment. Nice horse and Kelly Kimenski has a 2014 foal by him.

I would take at look at Granada Farms. They currently have 3 stallions at $500, which include a son of Tres Seis, a son of Streakin La Jolla, and a son of First Down Dash. http://www.granadafarms.com/
Like a previous poster said, for the money, Bully for Casey is a great choice as well. Him, as well as Mr TT Pacific, and Frenchmans Bogie are all Future Fortunes stallions.

Thank you for the responses, will definitely check out the recommendations! We are located in the Midwest, we have a farm in Missouri and another in Iowa but are usually in Iowa. This mare has never been AI'd so that was the only reason she was scheduled for live cover, but now we will try to AI her so I am leary to spend a lot if it does not take.

Bnparlay - 2014-03-25 11:07 PM I just came across John Fame he is a Son of Dash Ta Fame for 500. He is good looking. They are on facebook and have a website

A friend of mine has a John Fame and it is a super nice filly! She's kind, very good looking and has been placing in the futurities. I think his stud fee is $500. He is definatelly one to be at the top of a short list for under priced stallions.

Another one who impressed me in Arizona this jan is a Frenchmans Guy stud out of a Surf Bug mare named The Guys A Surfer. He clocked run after run 17.1's and 17.3's on a standard set. He's been roped on alot both in and out of the arena, they use him on the ranch and has won quite a bit of $$$. $50k + and has just been  running barrels 1 year. He was super nice to be around, acted like a gelding. He was very well behaved and he went back after his runs and tied right back up to their trailer right next to their other horses. He is very balanced, that Frenchmans Guy pretty, and had great bone.  This is a nice horse and they also do considerations. He stands for $1000 normally. He also has a facebook page.

This stud is very reasonable for what he is....he's also had several 1D and futurity money winners out of limited colt crops and breeding unknown mares....He is one of the best kept secrets out there IMO....NFR breeding on both sides. Plus, you couldn't find nicer people than the Roberts to work with. I've seen this stud in person and he's gorgeous, and very nicely dispositioned. If I had mares, this is where I'd be going (this one and Red's Western Native, but I think he might have a higher stud fee than you want).

He is! He was bred in Utah.  About 8 or 9 years ago I saw his mother. I didn't know anything about him at the time, but she was one of the most balanced and prettiest movers I have ever seen.  People always say they chose a stallion based on the maternal line, bla bla bla.  This maternal line is actually one worth talking about.

What about YQH Frenchman Fly? He's a beautiful gray 1D/rodeo money earning and 1D/rodeo producing stallion in Tennessee. He's by Frenchmans Guy and out of De Streaker (the dam of Mulberry Canyon Moon). He stands at Rock Bottom Quarter Horses rockbottomquarterhorses.com (they're on facebook also under "Frenchmans Fly"). I believe his fee is $800 plus a little more for shipped semen.

Lucks Phantom Bug sires crazy fast horses! We had a mare by him and holy buckets  I have never ridden a horse faster than her! Its was crazy! He is proven himself, and so is his offspring, there is very limited amount of them but they can run run run. He is one of those under thought stallions. His bloodlines are quite impressive as well, if I do say so myself!
~ETA message me if you want more info on him, his owners are fabulous to work with!

Firewater Fooler Own son of FIrewater Flit out of a Multiple 1D producing mare who is a grand get to Jet smooth. and if you compare this studs pedigree to firewater Fiestas its very similar!

Has over $60,000 in barrel earnings from 1D jackpots and pro rodeos. and in 2014 I believe he has earned over $5,000 in 2014 alone so far.
Here is his Face book page: https://www.facebook.com/FirewaterFooler

Pedigree: http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/firewater+fooler
One of his ads: http://www.stallionsnow.com/stallion-ad-805064

NOTE*** He is grey but carries the palomino or "dilute gene" He has produced several palominos from sorrel mares, and this year he produced his very FIRST Buckskin filly from a Bay mare! He is a high percentage producer for color! and his foals are built and smart smart!

a video of him running this past weekend: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=633083586761623&set=vb.10000179...

There are some really nice stallions on that benefit auction inculding A Dash Of Color. I have two full siblings by him and both are very pretty and look like barrel horses should. The mare they are out of is very short and as a yearlings they both are/were taller than her. If I wasn't a horse hoarder I would bid on him myself but my husband thinks four horses 6 yrs and under is plenty for just me

Mine, Superflyforawhiteguy, own son of Dash For Perks. One of the few stallions who actually competes and wins! He won the 1D in barrels AND poles for NBHA TX 19 last year :-) lots of pictures of him and his offspring on my FB.

Frenchmans Boogies fee in 2013 was $1,000, unfortunately out of my price range. http://www.barbranches.com

There is a Frenchman's Boogie and a Frenchman's Bogie. Two different horses.

If I were going for a lower stallion price and had a nice mare to gamble with, I'd give Roll N Thunder a shot. He is at Hebert Quarter Horses. While he didn't perform as expected, he is gorgeous with a great pedigree. He's been in the back of my head for a while. You can get him for a lot cheaper than he is advertised if you have a good mare and call for considerations and he is on some stallion auctions.

I'd link him for you, but I can't link from my computer any more.....not sure why.....baffling.

Look at Frenchmans Bully (vgbra.org./stallions). He is a cremello that will throw palomino or buckskin, is a 1D/2D barrel horse with a super disposition. Great bone and throws size. Fee is $650 with multple mare discounts.

Frenchmans Roan Jet.  He is a beautiful red roan stud with an outstanding disposition.  His colts are just now being hauled.  Melissa is wonderful to work with.

Auctions are pretty much over, but if you call they will usually let you have the breeding that are left for minimun bid. I am almost sure that Roll N Thunder, for instance, didn't sell for the LQHBA auction. For him, I'd call FQHRA, TQHA, LQHBA.....there's a few other's I'd call for him. Hebert, generally, gives breedings to most of there studs to a number of auctions.

CYA Ranch - 2014-03-26 6:54 AM I don't know what his price is but Mighty Mind Bender is my vote.  I have a nice 2 yr old filly sired by him and KMC is awesome to work with.  You could PM her for info.  He's being kept in Granbury, TX by another BB saaranch
Mighty Mind Bender is what I was going to suggest to. Send me a pm if you need her phone number.

Triple ditto!!!  I have a 4 year old out of Bender and I cannot say enough good things about her.  She's a riot to ride, has a super mind, tons of athletic ability and just enough grit thrown in the mix.  I'd take a barn full if I could find them.

We have 2 young, reasonably priced stallions, both of which are listed here on BHW.  We also only require the $200 down payment to ship semen or breed your mare.  The remaining stud fee is due when & only when we have a confirmed pregnancy.  We've been on the breeding end of high dollar stud fees and lost them so are trying to take some of the "gamble" out of the breeding process.

quikchik - 2014-03-26 7:00 AM I liked this one, but it seems he has gone up a little since I looked, so he is $750: http://barrelhorseworld.com/horsedetail.asp?ID=209081 I also like Tailgunner Tom, but I like most Corona Cartel sons. He was pretty inexpensive.

I know this horse and his owner. He is absolutely stunning in person. Beautiful mover and has seemed to take to the barrels easily. She also has a grandson of DTF out of Kelly Yates great mare, Firewater Fiesta. His name is Roosters Fiesta. He's a nice looking horse too, a little more compact and stout compared to Six Honors racy build. Both are very nice bloodlines for the price though.

I'll try... He has been one of the laziest babies I've ever owned and with the crazy weather I havent been able to really pony him for exercise so dont mind his hay belly. His dam is 14h at the withers and 14.3 at the hip.

ETA: The pics SHOULD be in order from newest to oldest. The first pic was just taken this past Sunday the morning after being gelded.

No he's not I bred to him last year and will be with be again with several of my race bred mares. I will also be running his booking/advertisement for 2015. He has never really stood to the public not a lot of people know about him. But his most succesful foal is Vanilla firewater and she was a winning pro rodeo horse but she ended up getting injured and now has several foals on the ground from frenchmansguy

bowersk - 2014-03-26 8:47 AM I would take at look at Granada Farms.

Thank you for mentioning Mr TT Pacific we are pretty fond of him ourselves! This will be the last year he stands for $500.

I have been eyeballing that stud for a long time. I am just so picky about temperament that it's hard for me to commit without seeing or handling multiple babies from a stud. Is this your only Howelling Corona baby?
