| I want to get a trailer with a living quarters, but I don't want a huge, long thing to tow.
Should I get a 2 horse (8' wide with mangers) with a 9' short wall LQ, or a 3 horse (7' wide with no mangers) with a 6' or 7' short wall LQ?
I only have one horse that I haul, but I know I need some extra space for all the "stuff" I need to take. Would I be better off putting all my extra stuff in the front stall of the 3 horse, or just get a wider 2 horse that has mangers and a hay rack for extra stuff but a larger LQ?
Any opinions? |

| I am in a similar boat and I think I have decided I would prefer a 3 horse. There are times where I haul another person to help save on gas costs especially when traveling any long distance and typically if I haul long distances, I have more stuff needing that extra space. So I prefer to have the extra room for hay, shavings, water buckets, etc. I think it also helps when you have LQ you obviously dont wanna store that stuff in the front and those small areas for your tack dont offer a lot of room.
I think I could consider a 2 horse if it had those side storage compartments. That would help to a certain degree.
Hope this helps, just my thoughts for my situation. |

Location: Jersey Girl | Three horse with smaller LQ. I don't want a HUGE trailer to drag around and I like to use the first stall for storage with the option of taking 3 horses if needed. |

Location: Iowa | I was in same situation. I got the 2 horse w/lg. Love it. No one around me to haul with so I usually haul alone. The few times I have hauled with someone hasn't been a big deal putting stuff in bed of truck. I really like not feeling cramped in the lg. |

Location: Oklahoma | I was going to buy a 2 horse w/LQ and they're few and far between, but I could find LOTS of used 3 horse trailers that were very nice, so I went with a 3 horse and glad I did. However, you can buy a 3 horse w/an 8 ft shortwall and it still isn't much longer than a stock trailer....that's what I got and I was very happy with it. |

| I would buy a 3 horse over 2 horse because of resale value. |

| I'll be the odd man out and say I can't wait to buy a 2 horse with 8-10 LQ. 1st stall for feed and muck buckets etc and my horse cozy behind that. :-) |

Location: Washington. (The DRY side.) | Definitely a 3 horse. How much time are you REALLY going to spend in the LQ anyway? If you're like most folks, not much. You have one horse NOW, what happens if you get another horse someday and want to haul them both, AND the "stuff" they will BOTH need. |

Ditto.
Plus, think resale. |

Location: OK | My pref would be 3 horse 7 wide, I do miss the mangers but the 7 wide pulls much easier than the 8 wide. I have a 3 horse 7 wide 8' LQ it is pretty long but has a couch I pull it with a 3/4 ton. You could go to a 6' and skip the couch. One thing I really want to stress GET A BULKHEAD DOOR. No matter what you choose the bulkhead door is a must. If you are not pulling a stud I strongly suggest AIR FLOW dividers that allow for more airflow and the ones with bars allow visual and seem less confining. |

Location: Oklahoma | I personally would not go with a 7 wide simply because I have big, long bodied horses. They're really cramped in a 7 wide. If you think about it, the difference between a 2 horse and a 3 horse is 2 feet. I bought a 10 ft lq and a three horse, and it's only 2 feet longer than my 4 horse stock trailer I pull around like nothing. After having about 10 lq trailers, I would say go with an 8 to 10 ft LQ (10 ft is better IMO) and a 3 horse. That's NOT a big trailer.

| 3 horse , 7 wide is plenty big inside if it doesn't have inset wheels. Jmo resale is better on a 3 horse as well. Mine has a 4ft short wall and it's plenty big |
