What is y'all's favorite combination of grain/hay for the foals (from just weaned to yearlings) when on a pasture that isn't necessarily the best, just gives em "something to do"...? What is like a "base" that you start with for each foal that comes around, I know that it could be subject to change depending on how the foal looks etc...

I like to keep it as natural as possible. EquiLix tubs and free choice quality hay or at least as close to free choice as possible.

I feed mine what the mommas are eating nice leafy alfalfa twice a day , nutrena safechoice mare n foal twice a day and all the grass hay they can eat. Generally the babies eat out of mommas bucket til they are weaned and so its an easy transition when weaning time comes around...I feed them this mix through 2 yrs old...

Okay this is what I like to hear! My mare is on mare n foal right now and gets it's 2x a day plus coastal hay and alfalfa twice a day. Seems pretty similar to what you do! My foal isn't born yet and this is my first foal so I am obviously new at foal nutrition lol. I know they have to get a decent amount of protein and stuff for growing I'm just not sure when/how much etc.
