I know there are several German Shepherd fans on this board. I would LOVE to hear about yours and see pictures.

This breed is new to me. Heelers are my breed of choice but I have always been intrigued by this breed and love their "presence." I rescued two GS adults years ago but didn't have them long. I now have an AKC registered 9-week-old male puppy for our future guard dog. He is the cutest thing and never leaves our sight. I'm always tripping over him as he is literally at my feet all the time. Anyway, just wanted to share.

Tidescos Ricky Ricardo. He's 10 this year. Looking for another pup soon too! Was looking at other breeds but I love my Shepherds.

Eta: Ricky is my best friend and travelling partner. He wouldn't hurt a fly and loves his cats. Lol. When I'm out walking people give me a 10 foot circle because he's so big. I used to tell people I would feel safe walking down the darkest ally at night. When I'm travelling and get tired if I pull over for a nap he goes on gaurd and watches over me. He just does a low bark to let me know someone's near the car.

This is Dixie. She's 6 and thinks my kids are also hers. She enjoys chasing cats, traveling to new places, and will look a stranger in the eye and bark when in protective mode, but once you are part of her pack she will know and love you forever.

I love them! That's what I want. My heeler is older and had a stroke last year. She will bark when a car pulls in our drive to let us know someone is here, but as soon as car stops she meets them with tail wagging and a frisbee in her mouth. Her intimidating front doesn't last long.

This is my sister's German Shepherd, Koda.  He is a great dog, very protective of my sister.  She takes him everywhere with her.  Koda weighs about 105 pounds, his parents were imported from Germany.  She was going to use him for search and rescue but her husband is ill, so she had to give it up for now...for now he is her furry-friend and hiking buddy.

Here is my Diesel! He's almost 2 and the love of my life. He too is very protective and acts all scary when he needs to. He is the perfect mix of protection and cuddles hahaha. He loves the horses and especially his cats(the favour is not returned however)! He protects any kids that are around him even if the arent his lol! My MIL has 3 GSD, and my SIL has one, we are hoping to get a female soon and have one litter.

Very cute puppy!

I still don't know how to post pictures....  My GSD Pecos is going to be 8 years in April.  She is a super smart, yet kinda dorky dog.  Love her to death and feel very very protected with her.  People will repspect you when you have  a GSD.  I just love how smart they are.  Pecos pretty much potty trained herself.  It was a non-issue.   She has long-hair so shedding is a bit of an issue.....

This is Buck. and my daughter on our Christmas vacation. Goes everywhere with us. If the trailer is hooked up, he does not leave my side or the trailer.  He really does not realize that he is not a human and part of the family. Loves little girls and is awesome to haul. Loves everyone. But when he is home, don't get out of your vehicle until I come outside. He is a year and a half.

Wish I had pictures to post. We picked up 3 little german shepard pups in October that were dumped on the side of the road. We kept one of the male pups since our dog is getting up in years, she is 10 this yr....I am amazed at how quick they grow. He looks like a big dog and he is only 7-8 months old. How he LOVES to play with my boys.

I love all the pictures!

This was our first Shepherd, Montana.  She got bone cancer and we took her leg and were grateful to have 2 1/2 more years with her.  She was such a great dog!

This is our current GSD, Brady.  We love her to death and she is such a good girl!

One more pic, Brady as a puppy with those great floppy ears :-)

On a side note, I recently visited the Guide Dogs for the Blind facility and they told us they no longer GSD is because they attach to strongly to people and had a hard time adjusting from their puppy raisers to the kennel/trainer to their blind person.  I can totally see that.  Ours are always happiest when they are with us.

My cousin's 15 year old female, Geo. Sweet dog, I'm gonna have a GSD when I get a place I can have inside dogs. They are just so loyal.

ETA: She's still just as protective now, if not more so, than when she was younger. Now that she's older, she watches more from the distance, but if you pull up and she doesn't know you, you aren't getting in the gate without a through sniff test.

Here is mine, he will be 10mths on April 11th and is already 89lbs.  Love him to pieces, we have him in training to be an emotional support dog plus we plan on getting him red crossed certified so we can take him to VA nursing homes and such.
