Hi I recently sold my Martin Crown C with a 9 inch gullet due to it throwing me forward in a run. Im looking at a Double J Pozzi and was wondering yalls opinion on the fit for a wide backed mutton withered horse?

If you get a Double J and your horses is as wide as you say, then you need to check out the Pozzi wide fit.

The wide fit they only opened up the gullet, the bars are still the same. Supposedly double j dealers have the trees to try on the horse.

If at all possible, I would have him fitted or at least try a few Pozzi's on that may be in your area. I had my gelding fitted by double J and he takes the standard #10 tree. Not at all what I THOUGHT he should've had, lol.

I bought a wide fit last year. Very basic full rough out model, not very 'pretty' by any means. I personally LOVED the saddle. However, the wide fit did not fit my 'special' mare I had purchased it for and I sold it.

I just got my new Pozzi in yesterday and I am in love. Now, it is the standard tree and my horse is not built like yours, but if you can get the proper tree for fit it is sooo nice. I have been riding in a Merrill, but wanted a deeper seat because my horse is so strong in his turns that I was not riding well. I rode in mine last night and it feels so much better. I can actually stay sat down when needed, but I can sit forward and push when needed as well.

I have had a JJ Pro Racer in the past, but I love the Pozzi so much more. I dealt with Phillip that works for JJ and he mentioned that I could send pictures of my horse and he could tell me the proper tree. I never did because I had a friend with the standard that I could try, but that may be an option for you if there are no reps in your area.
