I have a short backed, stocky mare that I cant seem to find a saddle that fits her. I'm needing a saddle that has short bars and most likely a round skirt. Yall who have short backed horses what saddle do yall use?
The saddles from Connie Combs are pretty short. I measured one and compared it to my Cactus CJ saddles and there was a few inches difference in the length of the tree. We have a super short backed little mare and we'll be buying a CC saddle for her.
I know I sound like a broken record but.....Shiloh Jordon Peterson Contender - it's very open in the front and fits a WIDE variety of horses depending on how you pad it. I'd be hard-pressed to ever give mine up....and I've ridden in alot of saddles over the years, LOL Here's mine on my 14.1 cow bred gelding with a 1/2" 5-star pad:
I have a mare like that and the saddle I like best is the Deb Sibley but I can't afford one yet. So I found an older Marlene McCrae flex tree and both my mare and I like it. Las Vegas Custom Tack can order you a saddle made to your specs for a VERY reasonable price. Anything from a flex tree to a CJ tree
