Ok, so I want this hat. http://www.sheplers.com/Stetson-3X-Oakridge-Wool-Cowboy-Hat/16735.p... does anyone have it? What is the quality like? Is 3x good enough? Its just for barrel races and local shows anyway. Its not like I am going to wear it every day I can order is from a tack shop in Ontario so thats a plus.

For a general hat, I don't think it's too bad. Sometimes I wish I had a lower quality hat, then I wouldn't worry about it so much! LOL! The only problem I've had with lower quality hats is that they don't usually hold their shape as long as a high quality hat.

I had a Stetson 5x. I loved it never had any problems with it holding its shape. My boss rides cutting horses and she got cancer and she always loved my hat so after she lost her hair I gave it to her. IMO you can't beat a Bailey or Charlie 1 horse

I had/have a Stetson 10X. It was highly abused in a marriage separation disagreement and still came back for many years. The last time I had it worked I was told it was finished. I've had that hat since 1995, so it lived a good life even without the abuse it suffered.
With how high $$ a 10X is now, I think I'll hit the hubb up for a new 5x this year for my Bday. I'd be very happy with a 5X.

I wore a Setson 5x for years when we had cattle and rode through all kinds of weather.Didn't hold up too bad for all of the rain, snow and bush we rode through. But it looked pretty rough and curled up but wasn't too bad for a bush hat. I like my cruel girl hat that I use now for barrel racing. Its held its shape for many years and I pull it down really tight and have never lost it yet!
